I went for a drive today in the wet and my Accelerator got stuck down at full throttle. This was a rather scary situation and could have ended in tragedy but luckily it was a rather quiet road with not many people around. For a few seconds I thought WTF do I do? I then tried to lift the accelerator with my foot, but that didn't work. I then jammed my foot on the brake, but since it was in the wet that seemed to make matters worse as the car was just sliding and spinning all over the road. In the end I turned the key off and shut down the car. After lifting the peddle back up I slowly drove home and when trying to work out what happened I noticed that the bottom of the accelerator peddle had worn a nice neat hole in the carpet which was causing it to get stuck down. So I guess if it happened to me it could happen to others and its probably a worth while thing to check out!
Yes have had the same thing happen to me. It was on a long stretch of road but scared me pretty bad as there was a slight bend. Think i got to 140 or so before i put it in neutral and turned it off.

Reminds me of an 80's movie were the accelerator gets stuck and his hammering thru freeway traffic. I think the problem was something to do with the carby getting stuck which wasn't uncommon in the old days.
Can't remember the name of it.

I had this issue with my first car (Mrs-Bitchy Cordia), but the throttle spring popped out for me, leaving the accelerator flat on the floor.
I ended up hitting the engine's physial speed limit which was pretty bloody fast (still the fastest I have ever been on a public road), and ended up flying past a cop.
Luckily, I didn't hit anyone, loose control, and to slow down, I used to brakes and ignition key.
Yes, my adrenaline was definately brown that day, lesson learnt, always make sure everything if checked, even the spring on the throttle arm.
