Good news Charlie, dosen't look like it needs much, other than some cosmetic bits n' bobs, and at the price you got it for, you'll be able to spend a bit of dosh on it to make it a good un, and still have a cheap Soarer............WELL DONE!

Heh... I went "Yay, saved lots of money" and ran out and bought a 134cm TV (LG) and new amp and surround speakers and sub (sherwood) and I think I've still spent less then I could have..

I'm going down to supercheep now to get some polish to see if paint is ok under the scum on the bonnet/roof/boot

Also, what's the button next to the button to fold the rear vision mirrors in? I press it and all it does is make a very high pitched scraping noise...

Shakes and heats the mirrors for fast de-icing and defogging. Usually only the passengers side as the drivers mirror is usually stuffed because they change the glass for compliance.

Ahhh... Yeah it only seems to come from the passenger side.. Damn it's high pitched. It's fun for annoying the missus though :-)

Cheers!

Also, how do I turn the fog lights on (I'm not going to use them often but thought it'd be nice to know how hah)

And how do I use the cruise controll? When I test drove it I just kept pressing buttons and screwing around and it worked but I can't seem to get it working now..

Thanks!

They aren't fog lights, they come on when a) headlights are on and b) indicators are on. Turn assist lights, let you see what you are about to run over in the driveway :-)

Cruise Control. Push button on end to switch On/Off. A/D (Auto Drive) shows on right hand side of dash board.

The C/C won't work below 38kph.

Get to desired speed, then pushing down sets the speed (above 38kph). Once speed is set, pushing down lowers it by 1.6kph, pushing up increases speed by 1.6kph.

Pulling forward, or using brakes, or dropping below 38kph cancels the cruise control.

Pushing up will resume unless the speed has dropped below 38kph in which case you need to set it again by getting to speed then pushing down.

Unless modified, the C/C won't work above 108kph. See in the Modifications section how to remove this limit.

I hope that all makes sense.

I hope you've got the same controls as me. Here's how mine works:

Turn the fog lights on and off by the inner dial on the same stalk as the normal lights.

Cruise:
Turn on/off by pressing the end of the cruise stalk.
Set by pressing down. This will also decelerate if you're already cruising. Interval is 2 km/hr.
Resume by pressing up. This will also accelerate if you're already cruising.
Move the stalk towards you or touch the brakes to cancel cruise.

EDIT: Peter beat me to it. I thought it was 2km/hr.

Benny, just my observation, looks like it works in 1mph increments to me. :-)

Charlie has a 91 Soarer, so the lights will be turn lights only as far as I know, separate fogs came along in 94.

You're right David. So he wont have the inner control on the stalk.

Maybe there's a difference in the increments according to year as well.
