Hey guys,
Came home from work the other day and found my baby (Diamond Joe) covered in overspray tar from the resealing of my street... no warning, no nothing .
form a distance the shine is gone and up close you see black dots the size of pin heads covering my pearly white baby. .. as you run your hand over the sexy curves, i am greeted with an unpleasent rough texture
Now after bad mouthing council... i have to admit i work for them! in the office, no road crew shizer.. although they prob earn more than me twisting lolly pops round and round (good on them its dangerous work!)
Anyway, i have made a claim and now i am getting full exterior detail for free
I'm pretty happy with this, as i have been meaning to do it myslef for ages... but now i am starting to worry about the guy at the shop that doesn't drive my car.. doesn't love my car like me... and couple this with my 1991 paint work that is poor in a few little places (top of passenger door in particular) ..
i am dropping the car off tomorrow morning before work, and intend to go over the car with them making sure they are carefull..
Is there any recommendations you guys have re: products not to use, areas to be carefull of, etc...

maybe try taking some close-up photos of the damage and also an unaffected area so if they dont fix it properly (or make it worse!) you have some proof.

Cheers,
The place i went to 'Tidy Car' did a great job.. used some foamy stuff they poored over the car to get rid of the tar, left it for a while, then polished and vacumed it, polished mags, shined tyres and front lip..
looks great..no more tar spots, even on the bottom trim, charge was $180, but not to me!
very happy,
Jason i highly recommend Tidy Car's services.
Plus , they offered to do an 18% window tint for $300, does this sound reasonable?

Lincoln where's this place at?? And how did it take for them to do it?
$300 ain't bad I got a price on darkest possible for $350 but that includes a REMOVE and REFIT, but in saying that my gf has an excel and they quoted her $500 to remove and refit, I told her to laugh at them and walk out.
I like my tint at night, but during the day it gives a blueish tinge inside the car and I don't like it then lol. Best thing to do when getting your car tinted is find a couple of other people who want to get there's done and ask for a group discount, saved 20 bucks each on two cars 3 years ago.

Hi Mark,
Might be a bit of a drive for you, but its at Taree, Victoria Street (old pacific highway), near Auto One.
I just left my car with them for the day, as as was at work, but i wouldn't think it would take more than 2 hrs for the detail and tar removal.
The quote for tinting did not involve any removal of old stuff.
I asked if i cuold supply him with the tint, but he said no, Apparently he uses only the best stuff from America.. with a warranty and all that stuff (i'm sure they all say that tho) looked very black, no blue.. he will also go darker, saw one at 4%, but that shizer would send you to jail... just stupid. 18% looked great, very black.

I used to have black stallion and that was legal just, I had a mate who has a lancer it's on my website (see profile) anyways he got a tint check and he got bang smack on 35% light let in. So as long as it passes that inspection, cops are real pricks down here at the moment, fair enough they are doing there jobs but half of them are just stupid.
A guy i was speaking to this morning got a defect for not having an unleaded fuel only sticker on his charade, BUT only an unleaded hose will fit in lol.

Cant believe that defect!
cant get your website to work, it freezes when i enter the gallery of your mates rides.
The guy at TIdy Car told me hes done heaps at 18% with no probs he has heard of with rego, police etc.. they are pretty good here tho, unless you get a cop jelous of your car (one guy notorious for this)or you have a ricer pack..
is 35% the legal cutoff? what year did this come in 94 or there abouts?
