Good news hearing that it will be fixed and that you know what the issue is.

Let me know the outcome when it's all back to normal :-)

OK got it back and the misfire is resolved but it sounds different. It has a much different sound. More lumpy at idle and through the rev range has more of a grugle. Power is similar to before, low down torque is slightly more and I slightly sluggish but really I'm pulling hairs. But the sound difference is massive. Does not sound like my car. What's going on here?

When it was misfiring before it sounded normal (when it wasn't missing). I was told one side out by one tooth and fixed that one side. Its pretty unbelievable if its still out. It doesn't sound like the right symptoms though. Can't get it to misfire. I thought I heard it misfire once but I'm not sure. Guess tomorrow I'll be getting my hands dirty once again.

At the risk of sounding like Rob do you guys think this could be a vacuum leak or emanage/ecu related. Looks like battery was pulled for the job and ecu would have been reset. It revs all the way to redline but I just got it tuned and it was hitting 200rwkw. It feels like its back down to where it was before the tune (about 180rwkw). Maybe not even that much but as I said lumpy idle is the biggest change and overall note. The response seems different. Hard to describe but maybe touchy down low and a little sluggish up top.

was reading a diy and it said to check timing marks on the belt with housing. Is this correct? It says do both this and the rotor check.

I think I did get genuine Toyota belt. Either way the rotor dizzy will show up incorrect timing won't it? I'll check the timing belt marks too.

As Dave said, the white marks on the cam belt are handy, but as the belt has already been fitted you will probably have to turn the motor over heaps of times to get the white marks on the cam belt to align up with everything again, it will be easier in the long run as Dave said to just go off the timing marks ..

You can see in one of your earlier photos that someone has put some white marks on the notch in the cam pulley that align with the marks on the rear covers, you can definitely use that & its probably a easier reference than going off the centre of the rotor arm ..

Intake hosing clamp is loose and also there is something on the throttle body that isn't connected and looks like it should be. I'll take a pic of it tomorrow.

The above pic is timing out right? The other side looks to be OK. It was funny I turned the car off and it just landed right on TDC. My airflow metre missing bolts. Pretty poor job.

Splash guard is filled with what I'm guessing to be auto fluid from the radiator when they took out again.

Jeez what a job, never go back there again once this is all sorted out ..

Don't know why they undid your air flow sensor !! very strange & its hard to tell from your photo but yes it still looks out, I have no idea what is the other photo you posted up ...

Before you do any complaining to them take some better photos & I would recommend to re-install the sensor & see how it runs then ..

It looks off to me by one tooth. Its this an accurate way to check? Maybe the belt is not on the correct spot which would throw this reference off but looking at the passenger side mark that looks to be spot on. I might still take off the dizzy cap just to make sure.

scott, if it is out and needs redoing, the most important thing is after the tensioner is released, the engine needs to be pulled around a couple of times to take up any slack in the belt and the marks checked again at TDC and the rotors.
