I got a quote that came thru last night from greenline for hks 264 cams. Price was 1177 delivered for a set of sticks, would probably come down another 100-150 i reckon with 5-10 people.
I have a friend chasing up for me a local, in sydney cam producer who does rb25 and rb26 cams, but can do 1jz/2jz as well. Price from that looks like around 800 mark for a set.

Wow, if they still haven't got their stuff together...what happens if we get a bad grind from there? I would rather have some pros do it here. Or get a group buy going
Well Ben I would be in for that for sure. Happy with either of those ideas.
I emailed crowcams.com.au but they only do 2JZ....

ryan: there is large core and a small core. The small core has less left than a large core.
Crower only made 2jz cams as well. There is a little bit that needs to be changed to fit a 1jz. Cant' remember exactly but I have pics somewhere.
If you can get a group buy from Greenline that will be the easiest way as everyone knows that the HKS cams work and work well. In the end the SF.com guys were bascially getting HKS cams but the big core had more lift.
If you can't get it through greenline, then I would try and gather as much info. as possible on the HKS cams. Detailed info. not just advertised duration and max lift. And then if you give that info. to a custom cam making place like Wade or Tighe they can make them up. I would do the same thing as they did in the US and get one set made first and give it to someone who is good with working on their car and has adjustable cam gears so that they can test it before the order gets made.
I would love to get some cams but unfortunately no money once again.
Dan: would have to be seperate as I wouldn't think a cam place would make a group buy of 2 different sorts of cams. You could try but I doubt it. If Greenline can get them for a 1uz then I suppose they wouldn't mine as they are just on sellers.

You may have to wait a little while Justin. Sometimes they are not very quick in answering, but they are quick to ship the goods.
Is anyone going for the 256 cams, i know there is a lower power gain but the vacuum wouldn't suffer as bad and they are still a large improvement over the stock 224 cams. How many of you are going to rev it to 8000 rpm anyway. The cams increase the rev range with the larger durations.

I get responses back from greenline on prices in 5 minutes usually! They seem to be great.
I think people think that they are probably only going to do cams once so they may as well get some that are too much for their needs rather than not enough. Not saying the 256's aren't enough though as I haven't used them but I think that is the rationale that most people use. Same sort of thing as when picking a single turbo setup.
That is what I thought when I saw some 256's up for sale a while back anyway

Whos in for this, SERIOUSLY? Lets get a list going of interest.
Im after 256/256's, ive mapped the outcomes of 56's, 64's and 72's with the appropriate lift configs with a 1JZ on ENGINE ANALYZER and the results see 250rwkw with stock ct12a's.. Thats 35hp from 256's! another 5hp or so from 264's and more from 272's. Vacuum goes up and idle roughens, most likely need an emanage to get it idling properly with 64's and no option for 72's.
Come on guys, if greenline does them for roughly $1000 delivered for a pair of sticks, i can get at least one other friend to participate.
Who knows their stuff and is willing to do the neg. work with these people? Chris? Justin?
Id say everyone would appreciate the effort.
Cheers guys, Cihan.
Ill get some proper simulation runs for everyone, give me some time to get it right.

Cihan, I already bought mine and they are sitting in my extra engine in the shed Ready to go into the car in a month or so.
Shows I was serious
Just so you know, I emailed Greenline, and they NEVER replied to my group buy question. 1 week later I asked for a price for the CAMS outright and got a reply in 2 days....so yeah. Not sure about greenline and groupbuys.

Justin, thats understandable.. It pretty much shows they're not into group buys Chris, hang in there buddy. Im juggling between cams or a fmic. Obviously fmic is the "people's choice" but i havent seen many problems with the stock one so far. I will when calder/trackday comes along, but for daily driving and the occasional squirt its fine.
Oh and Chris, i redid all my boost lines, now holds 15 pound to redline Before it would drop off to 13.4psi steady at the same duty cycle. So, with 1.5psi extra boost above ~5200rpm, there is bound to be more power than 207rwkw. That figure was actually at very low revs.

Justin, did you end up going for the 264/264 option? I wonder how it will idle etc.. I dont want to loose drivability you know, its a really smooth car how it is and i dont want to kill that feeling too much. I think i may settle for the 256's if they have a significant lift increase - i found that lift is important in a short stroke motor like this that already revs hard naturally, and that overkill on the duration side eats low end significantly.
Also regarding fuel consumption; I dont really care, but its something to consider for me as a uni student none the less.
I dont know why more people dont have cams installed, maybe the price of purchase and installation is hindering. Im planning on installing them myself - its pretty straight forward once the cam covers have come off.
