This might have been mentioned already, but guess what I accidentally figured out when driving around in the rain?

With the soft touch wiper stalks in the V8 if you want to go straight from any wiper speed to off (instead of tapping the stalk multiple times) all you do is push the stalk towards the dash, let go and then very quickly push the stalk towards the ceiling. Instant off!

The same idea also works you want to go straight to full speed: Push stalk towards dash, let go, and quickly pull stalk towards the floor.

On '91-93 cars, pushing the lever toward the dash will squirt water over the screen from the second washer bottle. On our cars (mine is '94 and yours '96) we sadly lack that wonderful second bottle so I guess some of the switching still exists and serves to interrupt the normal operation of the wipers so they go from some speed to phantom wash to off.

It is actually a 2 stage switch. Push it up till it beeps/you feel resistance it goes 1 stage, keep pushing it will go a bit more and that's all on or all off depending which way you push it.

Applies to 'soft touch' style controls.

oops.. Dan is right. All we have to do is push it further than normal and it goes straight on or off.

I believe you can have one with just plain water in it for rinsing and the other with detergent in it for washing off the bugs.

That's what I do.
I have straight (as opposed to GAY) water in my front bottle, and a screen-wash mix (Bars Bugs etc) in the main bottle.
