got this problem where some guy buffed the hell out my car and has gone really deep it has left streaks only visible when the sunlight hits the car, I also have a chunk of paint come off where it has gone right to the bare metal, i was wondering how much it would cost to get the chunk of paint fixed and how i could get the buff marks fixed.

Would the price of those Vs a new lick of paint on the whole car be much of a difference? cheers

Chris, im no expert but paint taken down that far is usually a no fix. You can do all sorts of touch up jobs which will definately make a difference.

You can try buffing it with maguiers scratch-x, then polish and wax it. It will make a diffence undefinately.

Just be careful with the buffer, dont do it too slow or it will scratch. Dont press too hard or it will scratch. It needs some heat energy to apply things with minimal resistance, without scratching as the guy that buffed it previously did.

Cheers,
Cihan.

I have been quoted $450-500 for re-spray of front bar. $5500-$6000 for the whole car. Everything properly done.
This is from a shop I've used before and it's an excellent job.

Chris, the marks that are only visible when the sun hits it sound like swirl marks. They have nothing to do with the 'depth' of the polish and everything to do with whoever did the polishing not removing them after the initial polish. Personally I use a pad that looks like:
Upload
That and a VERY fine polish. 3M "Finesse It" does the trick. Hand application is fine, a little polish and rub in circles. Wipe of the residue with a terry cloth or similar and Viola! No more unsightly swirl marks.

As for the chip.....depends on the damage what your options are.

yeah, I know it's not a biggie, just that once it starts, it seems to keep getting worse - so, nip it in the bud so to speak :-)
