I would say anything around 140-200 for oils, filters, and general check of everything else top up of fluids etc is reasonable depending on the quality of the oils.

Anything over 200 is a bit of a rip though. Even going near 200 is on the higher side.

120 should be the going rate.

As Bill said...and for $200 max I would expect full synthetic oil and a decent (full safety/general check)

For me, $180 for Mobil 1, an all over check of things and all your other fruit for me.
I get charged extra for the 'fantastic' oil of course.

For a normal service on my V8 to match the Waranty requirements it was $200. This included cooling system pressure test, compression test, plug check as well as all the other bits and pieces. As soon as the waranty expired I did my own servicing, which usually came to about $70 and a small mess to clean up =)

Thats what everyone should be looking for in their mechanic; one who cares about the quality of the ride, not just the engine! ;D

Toyota here in Adelaide charge about $15/hr more than the average mechanic's rates. They justify this by saying that no-one knows your toyota like them. This may be well and true for the Oz delivered models, but I would tend to think that there are a lot more people that know imported toyotas better than your local toyota dealer.
