Hi Guys,

According to the: Toyota Soarer Specification Summary there are no 3 litre turbo soarers. However I am looking at buying a 1998 model that is susposably a factory standard 3 litre single turbo. I was just wondering if anyone has ever heard of this?

If some has heard of this, i was wondering what type of power would this be putting out? (the standard 206 kw)

Cheers

ALL turbo Soarers as made by Toyota are 2.5 litre's.

TT (Twin Turbo) to 8/1996, then Single turbo VVTi to 12/2000, when production ceased.

Oh, and to the ALSC.

Thanks for that.

I have just e-mailed the guy to ask if its a factory standard 3 litre with an aftermarket turbo kit bolted on (not going to be happy if it is).

Also asked him for a picture of the engine bay, since he only sent me external and interior shots.

I'll keep you guys updated.

Could be a 2JZ engine swap.

He may have installed a factory twin turbo engine (2JZ-GTE) rather than bolting a turbo to the normally aspirated 3.0 litre (2JZ-GE).
The 2JZ-GTE's come from Supras and Aristos.

That's what Shane said Michael

Rarm, maybe the seller just got it wrong and it's the 2.5 VVT-i single turbo instead. Unless he's really sure it's a supposed '3 litre single turbo'

The VVTi 1JZ does look more like a 2JZ than a typical 1JZ. As above, the seller could be confused. Easy way should be to read the plastic coil pack cover on top of the engine. I'm fairly sure it should denote engine size and turbo presence.

Or it's an early model Soarer which were 3 litre turbos. (1987 etc)

Cheers Vinh, I was just making the distinction between a GE and a GTE clear for Rarm, as he is a newbie.

Well its been a while coming, but I have finally picked up the Soarer. And it is a 2.5 Litre VVTI-Single Turbo.

The seller quote "OK this is funny, I never looked at the car and I was just going of what one of my workers told me but this morning I opened the bonnet to take some pics and I was worng its 2.5 single turbo ! sorry for the mis information"

Drove it from Melbourne to ACT and it was sooo smooth compared to the Silvia on Coil-Overs.
