Ouch. That looks pretty bad Justin. How on earth did all that happen?
As for getting quotes, you're better off seeing the more 'reputable' spray painters. The reason why they want to see the car is to see whether they will need to do any extra body work. Your car may have been in an accident and you wouldn't even be able to tell.

You could take the fuel door or something to a colour matching place, (most large paint stores) and get a litre or two matched up to your sample, then anyone who's handy with a spray gun can blow it on.

Bill; it comes from having cars from the age of 14 and an attitude of give it a go and if it doesn't work keep on going until it does. i have done a few paint jobs over the years and my own car is coming up very nicely. Juzzas old V8 is going to look totally different.

Dam that is bad!! be quicker to do the spoiler as well ,if the clear coat has lifted up on the edge on the quarter panels (beside boot lid)as well, that will mean clear coating the rear quarters as well , colours mixed off the machines are pretty good these days .
If they are not 100%, they tend to blend them in to the nearest panel anyway, so you cant pick the differance in colour.
so when you paint the boot lid you would blend it into the tops of the quart panels, then clear coat the whole quarter panel and boot lid.
Why not go to a spray painter and ask them to mix you up 1 litre of base coat in your colour, then go see lew.
He is closer then me im 2 hours south of brisbane.
just looking at the pics id say around $1000 really hard to tell from pictures, i can see why people dont quote over the phone.
why do you need to go to 30 places? you can usualy tell if they do a good job just looking around at there work .good luck with it .cheers

Hahaha $1000 you have to be kidding. I got my whole front bar which is a larger area done for $300, with 4 coats + 3 purple pearl + clear coat. Although I admit, that is no blending, as my car was only 2 years old (in paint) and kept under cover most of the time.
I will see if my mate Lew can book me in, I am even happy to sand it myself. Go and get colour matched and see what happens.

Good advice. Acrylic paint will probally cost you about $40-$50 and then about another $20 for some good quality thinners.
Never done two pack though so ive got no idea on the costing.
But they can match the colour pretty close, my other car is a track only prelude and after a couple of scuffs or bumps on the bumper or guards a quick sand and a spray and you'll never notice the difference.
So just take down the paint code number and your fuel cover (sometimes can be a bitch to get off). This is because they have a book that tells them exactly what colours to mix for the toyota paint code and then from there, they colour it to the current colour of the car (fuel cover).
Hope that makes sence, feels like i said about ten things at once.

That's the thing it was an awesome job, 2 years later and it still looks schmick and they didn't need to do blend because he got the colour right in the first place.
Oh sorry Hadyn this was on another car....not this one. Only had this car 6 months.

I was thinking $500 was a little high which would be for a regular shop and a top quality job.
There is a guy down here that did a touch up on the parents camry, $270 to remove a dint in the rear quarter and rear bumper (bloody car parks) repaint the rear quarter and rear bumper along with the rear spoiler so it will look like new for another 10 years. The paint was blended and I cant tell the difference and I know exactly what was done.

I have had a few cars and friends go to Perfection body works in Wynnum. Tony is a nice guy and does a good job at a good price. Although he will not do a MEGA cheap job as he does not like to have his name on work that will not last. I have seen lots of people with cheap jobs who have orange peel and flaking clear or a poor colour match. Don't pay too little and get a rubbish job. You will regret it when it goes to hell in 12 months.

I overlooked the part where you said the paint was blended Damian. I didn't get a blend on mine. I wanted the right colour or none at all because if another touchup needs to be done then you have three colours on you car (had it happen) and unfortunately I have a really good eye for things like colour matching.

Mate the colour was right, it was the factory paint but you have to remember that paint fades over time so it has to be blended otherwise you can see difference between the old and the fresh paint.

They can make the colour to factory specs and then tweak it so it's a perfect match. They do not have to get it "she'll be right" close and then blend it out so it's not very noticeable. I am not commenting on your job. More on the ones mates have had done (and are now re doing) and ones I have seen at a friends panel shop.

Yeah I have seen quite a few where the wrong paint was used too.
I saw one the other day where the wrong grain of metallic paint was used. It was completly wrong not even close. You could see the difference from 20 meters away.
