Guys the main point I should have made also was that it all comes down to your personal style and preference vs your BUDGET.
Any fuel at 98 Octane is good in my books. Maybe google that with NASA or something [I refer to that brilliant article from the NASA rocket engo about Mobil 1 synthetic oil published on this forum].
I've also been a fan of Caltex as for years I believe their Standard ULP was had the highest octane.
Btw.. I'm not even going to start second guessing what oil companies do and why... hell wars have started over oil so who knows what motivates companies to offer what and advertise what etc etc.
Price vs Octane vs Budget in y opinion. Analogy: If you can afford premium beers all the time you'll buy them, all the time...

I have been using only Boost 98 since dec 2005 (19000kms). I can report no problems and no noticeable reduction in fuel economy. All at only 3c/l more than 91 octane.

I have been using BP Ultimate since i got my car and the highest i had to pay was $1.50 p/l, but i dont care since its great fuel and it makes a difference in my car, well thats my opinion anyway.

I think I personally have been through every single type of fuel from every single company...BP, Mobil, Shell, Caltex, Boost, 7Eleven, shyttiy no name crrap...
I would honestly have to say that I have been very pleased with Synergy 8000....it works like a miracle on my car
Not to mention the brilliance of Ultimate as well, she's always too happy to be drinking the best
As for Shell, I even filled up with that so called premium top of the line V-max Racing 100 RON.
1. Waste of money 2. Waste of money 3. Waste of money 4. Performs like a donkey 5. Waste of money
As for the others, I don't even want to get into it. Too many nasty things to say!!!
On the other hand, I'm sorry for treating her the way I did, desperate times, call for desperate measures I suppose. Never again though. Once Premium, always premium, whether it be 5 bucks or a full tank of $100.33
Just my two cents
P.S. Shell 95 is just another produst as outlined by other members, Shell also has 91 RON
Just wanted to make sure that the message was sent across

I always stick to V-Racing 100, and if too far from a Shell station that supplies it, I would settle for Ultimate. I really don't care about the which of the two that increases mileage and/or performance, but that's just me.
I purchased this car to enjoy it, not to worry about which petrol is going to save me a few KMs, even if it was a significant amount.

But in Adelaide 98 octane is the highest you can get
Melissa, I have seen V-Racing 100 at a number of Shell servos in Adelaide. I'm not sure where you are, but the Shell on Salisbury Hwy near Parafield Gardens High School definately sells it.

I should also add that I have been using Boost 98, which is an E10 fuel, Not to save money, but to test it to see if there are any nasty surprises. Simply put, "There Is NO Nasty Surprises!!" It is just fuel with a bit of ethanol. If 19000kms on the stuff isn't enough to tell, then I don't know how much is.
I have used all the other 98 types. I can't tell the difference between any of them, although I did notice a slight grunt increase with the boost 98, when I first used it.
I have noticed that the southerners tend to be more picky with their fuel use. Maybe you have more crappy fuel down there or something. I haven't had a bad tank of fuel in Queensland since I started driving in 1981??

BP ultimate have a V8 falcon set up with 2 fuel tanks which run one bank each. They have a camera that gets placed into the valve area and you can see the difference in how clean the BP ultimate fuel runs compared to there unlead fuel.It was at the V8 Supercars. Check it out, will surprise you with the difference.Cheers, Bon Bon

Also just keep in mind (for those wanting to experiment with race spec fuels, ie the proper stuff, not servo crap) 99% of them still contain a bit of lead, so kiss you're cats bye bye.
