We've just signed up for a novated lease for a new 4wd for when we leave Norfolk. It was going to cost me $9000 to ship the Wizard to Au (and get it on the road). My employer will ship one car, which will be the Soarer, of course . I'm over $75k so it works well, and the residual will be a tad under $21k while the car should be worth more than that. As we're moving to WA with long trips back east we should do the nominated 25,000km annually.

I certainly hope so, Daniel! We were looking at having to spend at least $1000 just to hire a car to look around for a second-hand 4wd. The Soarer isn't suitable for the family (we don't travel light ) and in any case it's to be shipped all the way to my next house- in Exmouth, so breaking the journey would be complicated, and who wants to add 10,000 unnecessary kms? I've wanted to do a novated lease in the past, but when we were in Weipa the town was cut off for months at a time in the Wet, so nominating kms was very difficult (or rather, achieving them!). A plus for me too is that under certain circumstances I get mileage allowance, in lieu of taking annual airfares associated with my remote employment.

Well, going back to original topic, just got myself the IS300 on a novated lease for one year. Hopefully if all goes well and my calculations are right, the car will cost me nothing in the end.
