This was wired into the rear spoiler light of a 10/96 Soarer with two spare wires taped up ,the box was behind the boot LID trim .any ideas?

I found a page with product information but its all in Japanese. Hopefully it can be helpful for you. http://www40.tok2.com/home/masaru48204/DELICA/SG/Electric/HiMountLamp/HiMountLamp.html To me it looks like some kind of staged braking light, where it blinks or grows brighter based on how hard you brake.

Dave has successfully connected it up and Bobby is correct. It is connected to the spoiler LED brake light and blinks 3 times before going solid when the brake is applied. Just like the delica at the bottom of the website.

I would prefer if it grew brighter based on how hard you brake but I still think this is cool.
Wouldn't this alert the people behind you that you are braking better than if it just went solid thus making it safer?

So why would this be illegal? Do you think it would attract attention from the boys in blue?

it might be considered distracting. i doubt something like that would be ADR compliant.

however i guess they wouldnt really know as it might just look like youre tapping the brakes?
