So recently I blew up one of my turbos. I was given the option to rebuild it for a couple of grand, but I opted to go big single. To anyone considering it, I strongly advise against it, unless you have a huge bucket of money to throw away (This build cost me $14k all up ) The car was also out of action for over 3 months, getting sent the wrong manifold, and then all sorts of issues in fitting and custom fabrication.
I was bit disappointed with the final kw figure (245kw at 16psi) since it was making 239kw on the high flowed stock turbos, but I imagine there is more potential there now.
From the outside, the car looks stock as a rock. So it's quite the sleeper
Here's a list of the current mods:
PowerFC ECU Apexi AVC-R Boost controller Garrett GT30/40 turbo 48mm Turbosmart waste gate Turbosmart blow off valve Front mount intercooler Walbro 700HP fuel pump (noisy!) Rebuilt Torsen LSD HKS adjustable inlet camshaft gear Stainless manifold Stainless custom dump Rampod air filter 2JZ injectors Rebuilt standard clutch Manual conversion Aftermarket exhaust, 2 1/2 inch
Next: Turbo beanie Heat shield for air filter Bigger injectors Coil-overs Bigger exhaust?

If he did the Manual conversion at the same time then it would have come close to that much. As i know with my setup lol.
Id boost it abit more mate, Boost it to atleast 20 - 22psi and see what sorta numbers you make then, You should be able to easily get around 260-270rwkw with that setup.

The breakdown is 8.5k in parts (3.8k for the turbo kit alone http://www.aseturbo.com/html/supra_turbo_kits.html, and yes I could have got a better deal than that) and 5.5k in labour. (ok so not 14k ) So, stating the obvious, if you are capable of doing everything yourself you can save a truck load of money

yep...... i also know how it feels to see all this money gone my car has costed me over 13k easliy to date..... and i dont even got a garett turbo or injectors (but i do got the beanie and exhaust )
look at the bright side, where the twin boys are maxing there turbos and preying every run a wheel doesnt fall off @ 260rwkw (your turbo now wont even wake up), youll be aiming for the 300rwkw
Thats my only excuse i use on my-self as i keep spending money (the dream of a 2jzgte supra is slowly fading.....)

Nope, no manual conversion. Just a lot of cleanup, fabrication and some tuning, but yeah, still very expensive. It's probably the most expensive place in town and I knew that when I took it there, but I also know they are damn good and I wouldn't come out with any nasty surprises a couple of weeks down the track. (Just one big nasty surprise up front )
Good point Charlie, the stock twins were obviously busting their gut to give 239kw, the new turbo probably isn't even breaking a sweat. I'm sure I could probably boost it more, but I am too scared to, after what I did to one of the old turbos

yeah way more potential with this setup.. how does the boost come on and bout what rpm? cause i am swapping to one of these for better response and peace of mind having genuine garrett. yeah the efficiency of these turbo's start at 18psi.. try for 20-22 see how you go. should crack the 300rwkw
