Hey guys, just a quick shout out incase anyone hears anything... Last night my mates workshop where my car is at got hit. All the cars in the carpark got went through (behind barb wire fence too!). Some lowlife scumbags managed to unbolt my turbo and make off with it. The tail light was smashed too, obviously trying to access the boot. So, if any one knows or finds a brand new Garrett GT35R 0.82 for sale in the near future (serial number will be provided in due course) feel free to let me know as such appropriate action may be taken. Cheers

As the car was not locked up in the actual shop, we are unsure of the insurance stance. Tomorrow will hopefully reveal more

It must be someone that knows the car, knew it would be there and knew it was a single turbo, no one in there right mind would attempt to steal them if they thought it was just a stock TT.

Ummm not really rob, they broke in to steal heaps of stuff from heaps of different cars, just unrucky that Ben's was in there also and that top mount turbos are pretty easy to remove!

Bummer Ben, hope you catch the thieving c*nts! I'll keep my eyes/ears peeled if i hear anything. Where abouts was the workshop Ben? Alot of thieves lately, driving through Gawler River and saw a burnt out silvia on the side of the dirt road. Obviously stolen, took everything and torched it. F*ck nuts.

Yeah I got your sms, remember when I said "asif you leave your car unlocked in the car park" I hate that neighborhood. Get mark to keep an eye out, there is no way it was a random robbery, they would have to have been customers that had been in the shop.

Ok, it is now apparent that it was obviously targeted! I have just found out (as i was way too pissed off to drive down there yesterday) that the entire manifold, gate and dump assemble was removed from the car, in the middle of the night. Like how hard is it to take a manifold off normally, let alone in the middle of the night when the car is in full view of anyone that could randomly drive past! Sooooooooo annoyed right now!

Right, I'm down at the shop now and have seen the car first hand... The twats also got into the cabin. The stereo (alpine 9xxx series, can't remember exact model number atm, face was off, they took half the dash panels with them as well), rsm, afc, gear knob and harnesses are all gone as well

PS, Dave, the car WAS locked PPS, workshop insurance doesn't cover what is not in the actual shed. Starting to feel pretty sh!t right now, might go find the nearest cliff to jump off of :/

Ben have you got comprehensive car insurance? If the workshop insurance doesn't cover you, which it should, then your insurance should.

The thing is the shop is owned by a good mate of mine, and I know they aren't travelling that well financially at present. He is trying to give me a hand, but forking out $7500 to replace all the stuff taken isn't going to happen. As for full comp for me, no I don't have it. Ever since I got a company car, the soarer was destined to be more track orientated than street. So I cancelled the rego and insurance when it went to the shop, I thought to myself why should I be paying $2300/yr for rego and insurance on a car that isn't going to run in the next 18 months? In regards to being outside, thats where it usually lives. Mark is kind enough to let me use his tools, shop and facillities on weekends when we are both free. But due to him actually needing to make a living outside of those times, my car goes outside when not actually being worked on.

Ok, the next wierd thing has just struck me With all the stuff taken, why not take what they left? I mean the brake and clutch masters were just sitting on top of the cam covers, the oil and water feed lines are still on the block, the race seats are still in the car (held in with only 1 bolt atm!), the full set of bilstein struts in the back seat area, likewise with the tein springs... So all the stuff that would just as much money if sold and would have only taken 30 seconds to steal is still there, yet they managed to unbolt the manifold and make off with that, the dump, gate and the stereo complete with trim. Fags.

Unbelievable story mate. Surely some of that stuff has to turn up somewhere for sale, or someone is modifying their own car with stolen parts. But, to be removing parts from the engine - they knew what they were doing, and sounds planned for sure. I know they usually do jack but have the police done forensics on your car and the others? Must be prints EVERYWHERE with the amount of work they did. Apologies to anyone who is a crime investigator, but with my previous experience nothing ever happens. I really hope something turns up or works out for you. This is a screaming shame.

If there are any other shops near by should see if any have video surveillance, you probably won't see them in action but you might see them driving to or from the site. If it was late over a weekend would probably be very few cars on the road as well.

The fuc_king cnuts stole my tools too! I can't help but imagine that they used my own tools to remove my turbo and manifold?!? Anyways, the car is now back at my new place (big ups to dynamic motorsport recovery for the free tow!) so I can start to rebuild her from her current violated state.

How many 1J's are kicking around down there? I reckon there is a good chance you know who did this or have met him. He has to be in the scene, or was stealing off a list for someone who is. As you said, he only took certain stuff. It does not look like he was after stuff to sell quickly, going on what he left behind. I'd be keeping an eye on the usual places, ebay, forums, and the track. You may not get your parts back, but there are other ways to get justice...

Sorry to hear that mate. It's these situations that make you want to believe in Karma. How about you give us all the exact brands, model numbers & specs of all the gear so we can keep an eye out. It does seem as though it is a Soarer/1JZ owner that has scarpered with your gear, so maybe we wont see it sold, but installed on the thief's car. I wonder if your mate & his shop has records of 1JZ's & Soarer's that have had work done there. Maybe these records could help too. You don't have an original purchase receipt that has a serial number do you? (long shot but another idea). I hope it all works out

I dont know why they didnt flat bed the whole car, the car is worth like 40k almost. They went a bit half arsed if you ask me. My gues is they left the other stuff cos its not going into a soarer. Start a paypal account and ask for donations, make a thread on every forum in Australia too.

Sorry to hear the bad news Ben, especially when it was starting to look so close near completion. As if nobody saw or heard anything if they took so much stuff, they would have been there for ages. Were any of the other cars down there messed with? Hope you catch the pricks who did this and teach them a lesson. Will keep an eye out for any of the parts.

I'll be sure to quote that again if I ever sell it I got a call from the lads at the shop the other night asking me to come in at my earliest as it has been a while since we have had a beer together. They took great pleasure in showing off a brand new SP tool cab as we were drinking... then informed me that it was mine!!! Last week they decided to all pitch in and order it for me as they felt so bad about what happened to my car. I'm still turboless though, but at least I have new tools to work on what is left of the car and that is another $1300 I don't have to find again! |

Vl Calais turbo with all mods, 430rwhp ran 11'2 ... Yeah i reckon it was an inside Job , but the cops didnt help, or even follow me up with anything... I lost 14k which was already borrowed as it was meant to be the " Last SPlurge " before we got hitched !!! Which then meant we had to postpone the wedding to buy another car . I bought a 95 ford at the time and got out of the car scene for 5 years . Didnt look at 1 forum, didnt go to 1 drag meeting, not 1 auto meet , didnt even buy 1 trading post . I was gutted !
