If you haven't already seen my for sale post (blue 91 limited)then I will start my rant with mentioning that my car is listed on the SC for sale.
I got a call today from a guy NOT a member of SC, he wen't over regular car purchase questions. He sounded legitimate and spoke well, so he came over looked at the car and said..... These cars are problematic, rada rada ra, parts are hard to come by and are too expensive.

He then said I will give you $3500.00 for it.

WHAT A JOKE, If he wasn't such a s***t talker I may have even given it to him for that much.

I am starting to think that I will never get a later model soarer as no one off the forum believes how good and reliable and relatively cheap these cars are, therefore it will never sell since most of us here already have one.

Sorry to hear that Steve... yeah it get's annoying trying to sell a car like this to people that have no idea about them... try this next time. Alright... your you (of course) and the person buying is PVC (person viewing car)

PVC - "These car's are problematic"
You - "Really ? these are hands down one of the most reliable car's toyota have ever made and rarely do you hear of people having major problem's with them. Any car can be problematic depending on how it's been treated in the passed but I haven't had any issue's with it"

PVC - "parts are hard to come by"
You - "Really ? just like any car, multiple wrecker's will have just about any part you need available. There's also plenty of online forums where people are wrecking these car's, parting them out and have EVERYTHING up for grabs. If all else fails Ebay has just about everything for sale too."

PVC - "Parts are too expensive"
You - "Well... If your buying part's brand new then that's to be expected with just about any car except a holden or a ford, but again, second hand parts for these car's are every where and they are a fraction of the cost of buying new and you might get a few years or more out of whatever part you buy depending on what the part is"

PVC - "I'll give you $3500 for it"
You - "$3500 with a blow job and its your's"
PVC - "what?"
You - "YOU HEARD ME BITCH!! ON YOUR KNEES!!"

Nah, jk :-)

considering you dropped the price to $4000 with RWC I woulda just taken it and sent him on his merry way... yeah, he might of been a talker buy hey, how much do you want your new car ???? that's the way I see it.

Sounds like an A grade jackass to me.

Soarers are more expensive to maintain than a regular family car - like any high performance coupe! If you want a GT Coupe, you have to expect its going to cost you a bit more to keep it well maintained, doesn't matter what make it is! If you don't want to spend more money on maintenance, buy a Corolla or a Pulsar!

Of course, compare the cost of running a Soarer to say, a similar aged Jaguar XK and it starts to look like a real bargain. Apples with apples.

Having just bought my UZZ31 off this site, it is a buyers market. But there is still some good buys out there. My daughter, and a couple of her friends were waiting for mine to turn up so they could have a good look at it.
Now they are both thinking it maybe the way to go, get rid of the Commodores that everyone has, and for a lot less money, get a Soarer with a bit of luxury.
My white one has certainly attracted their attention more than my green one.

The other thing is for us interstate buyers, having a standard car is a lot easier on the rego inspection than a modified one.

But as stated, most on here allready have one, so unless looking to add, or change cars, makes it a bit harder to sell.

I doubt he was misinformed. That is called talking the car down as an excuse to offer a lower price. And if 3500 was a price you are prepared to take, then you are a fool for passing it up.

When I sell a car, you can come over and tell me as many fairy tales as you like if you've got the cash I want. Alternatively you can be the best informed car guy in the world and I will tell you to get off my property if you offer me $1 less than I want for the car.

Well said!

Unfortunately for the original poster these cars are getting old, current model cars are getting cheap so unfortunately your going to get a lot of "bargain hunters" trying to talk the price even further down...

A motor for one of these goes for $1000 to $1500 and an auto is about $300..... I feel another part out coming up....

I would probably make close to $4000 in parts, then I would not have to deal with time wasters and tyre kickers :-)

Or you could sell the Engine for 800 and the box for 250 and be left with a non working car that no one is interested in .... You have to look at all options, and this could be one .

steve i am wrecking a v8 and a tt at the moment and if not for the fact that i have 3 other soarers and have a couple of good mates who have 2 more i would be stuck with a ton of crap that no body seems to want. i would definately not be recomending a part out as i can pretty sure your going to probably have more trouble getting rid of a dead pile of parts versus a live one. at 4 grand from the photos that car should be moving have you tried advertising anywhere else but here, as apart from a bunch of vultures offering silly money (1500 bucks for a 150k tidy tt i dont think so) i only had 2 genuine people show interest in my tt and 1 of them moved interstate so he pulled out and the other had preferance to a v8 and a good one came up at the same time but at least he was honest. try carsales.com or the melbourne papers dont use trading post or ebay you might have more luck

Agree there Brett, you can see in the past year or so in the For Sale section there are a lot more Soarers being wrecked/major part-outs than before.

Its an inevitable consequence of the cars themselves being so cheap

Cheaper soarers should mean faster sales but this is not the case..... anyway I think I may have a serious buyer. Maybe I havent advertised it well. I have since added many photos of the car to my sale post.
