what? after he nearly pulls his gun on me? •••• the C&nt....stable! I couldn't have been nicer to him, and he kept yelling and swearing at me. Not the way for an officer to behave regardless of the situation.

BUT

I don't hate all cops because of it. Sure some of em are duckheads, but there is no need to generalise. Its just like saying all muslims are terrorists. There could be nothing further from the truth!

I cannot make broad statements about the manner of police in Australia. I can only speak from personal experience like everyone else. I find the massive majority of drivers I come into contact with very polite. This may be because I am polite to drivers, no matter what age, gender, race, or car their driving.

If their demeanor is unfavourable actions may be taken further than I originally thought necessary. If stopping a driver for an illegal action I see my job to alter their driving style for the better. If that can be achieved by a caution it is excellent and the preferred option. If I believe that the issuing of an infringement or summons is more appropriate, that action can be taken. The driver always has a right to a court hearing.

I will only issue a Compliance Notice (Yellow Sticker) if the car is unsafe to be driven, not for obscure technical reasons such as bolt on additions.

As I said this is my opinion only and I cannot account for how other police do their job. If anyone has any questions regarding Road Traffic Act, VSR, ADR related issues I would be happy to assist.

Yes, I have been lied to outright by the police, not to mention by politicians, car mechanics, share brokers, probably the local butcher and a pest exterminator last week. So bloody what? If I see systematic improper or corrupt behaviour I will report it to the pertinent body, be they the police or the Professional Hairdresser's Association (find them at
professionalhair.com.au/pages/index.php )

Some people are duckheads, as Rob so nicely puts it. All groups have their share and unfortunately some of those are better placed to inflict their errors on more of us. However, if you believe devoutly in the goodness or badness of any particular class or group of people, or in their rightful authority, then do not bother me with your opinions; but you will anyway

Craig:The problem I have with this "All makes for good discussion" angle is, it's been done to death many, many times before, and frankly it's boring, repetitive, and achieves sweet FA!

Samantha was venting her spleen re one particular incident. It did NOT require smart-ass derogatory comments from one of our members, which then escalated into a pro/anti cop thread "AGAIN".

THAT is why I edited the thread, and as for "Taking a vote" on thread editing/closing, it's NEVER going to happen!.

Quite simply Soarer Central is NOT, NOR WILL IT EVER BE a democracy, it's a private web site, which is privately funded & run by Peter Nitschke, and policed mainly by Rob, Manny & myself as Moderators.
IF any "Vote taking" or discussion is done, it will be ONLY between ourselves.

Sometimes I wish I didn't have to be so PC but you never know who is reading this, it isn't just Soarer owners me thinks.
