I heard from the smash repairers that its unrepairable. Im upset at all the mods, effort, engineering R&D and hundreds of hours of interior retrim time etc. Im waiting for insurance to assess it. Rod, tell me about it! Maybe Soarers arent for me..

The cops, ambulance personnel were all very kind and nice. A traffic cop arrived later and inspected the car and started to give me some lip. He chucked the sticker on it and i asked him 'just out of interest, why the yellow sticker?" He replied, i want this car inspected at the pits because you have a lot of mods" Then he rambled on about ADR, etc. I replied 'i just had it registered and have a mod plate and full engineering certificates, IM240" The cop said" you know if anyone witnessed this you would be charged" What for being swiped off the road ? I was like WTF??? dude where did this wanker get off ? I believe i got clipped from behind in peak hour traffic in the wet. Another smash happened at the same time immediately opposite me in the other lanes. I called the police and they said just wait and they will be out in some time. I told the operator that im stuck in my car and cant get out. (the door was wedged in) Then within a minute, cops everywhere, ambulance etc. Climbing out of the window sideways was not a good experience.

Ugh, once again a loser cop making your day even worse. Same thing happened to me when someone ran me off the road, and an off duty cop car pulled up a minute later to see what happened, and he accused me of causing the accident and if he was on duty, he would book me .... for what I wasn't too sure, and since I didn't see a badge, I told him to off. He soon did. You're probably going to get sick of hearing it, but I'm really sorry to hear about this for you. It just sucks, so hopefully insurance comes through for you.

No one stopped. As i didnt see who clipped me i couldnt exactly look out for number plates when you're sideways in the wet at 75 km/h heading towards a concrete barrier.

All the police (about 10) were very nice, chatty and making sure i was ok. The 2 ambo girls were very friendly and wanted me to go to hospital with them - very tempting! But this one traffic constable was a total jerk with an attitude. Even the tow truck driver was shocked at what he was saying. But i have learnt a lesson from all this. With the front fenders all wedged in preventing my door from being opened and the left side hard up against the concrete wall, if the car caught on fire i was f---ked. Im not a small person and it took me almost 20 minutes to get out. Our drivers windows are small and how many of you have tried getting out of your car like that? Its NOT easy. It was nice being registered for 2 weeks

Oh man, that sucks. I've gotten some understanding of how the structure of these cars work by watching them put my car back together after a 40-50 km/h frontal recently, which was touch and go as to if it was fixable, and yeah, its way beyond repair, nor would you want it back even if it could be fixed I think. I'm happy with how my one turned out, but it took them 3 weeks to fix it!

| Holy crap Adam! =| I'm very glad to hear you dont have any immediate injuries. Hitting the concrete barrier at or so 75kph in the wet is risky business and its a miracle that you have come out seemingly unscathed. Did you end up going to the hospital for any scans? It may be worth getting your neck at least CT scanned or something to make sure nothing is out of place that could cause problems later on. That really sucks that one officer had to be such a downer like that after the experience. One would assume that they are trained to understand people are already shaken up after such accidents and should be treated with more care etc.. I'm sorry to see your car end up wrecked after so much effort as well. You have certainly spared no effort or expense in trying to get it to a standard you were happy with only to have it snatched out of your hands so callously. I hope you have a decent dollar value assigned to your car for insurance purposes so that you can recoup as much as possible. All the best mate. |

I have a high level of respect that you didn't do anything cause honestly, if I were in your position, with the short fuse I have I think I would be in Jail. |

Well im feeling ok and the adrenalin has worn off. I just cant believe it all. I have a set of brand new leather seat covers which were to be fitted today, now up for sale. As for what happened, we're currently trying to find traffic cameras on the area to see what happened, but im sure i was swiped. Anyone have any insurance experience with Shannons ?

I have had 3 claims with shannons 2 thefts and a truck changing lanes into the back of my verada. They have been totally profesonal and very helpful. The panel beater that did the repairs on the the verada told me that it was the first time in 25 years of being in business that a assesor added to his quote to replace parts rather than repair. I am in the motor trade and after dealing with most of the insurance companies out there over the years shannons is excellent by comparison.Hopefully you should have no trouble

F###K!!!!! Sorry dude, can't imagine what you must be feeling. Luck you got a cooler head then me though... I think I woulda ripped that cop a new one if It had happened to me... Probably still be in the clink though I't's bad enough loosing your car (among other peoples and or their lives if you had rebound, which probably went through your mind) without some D#CKHEAD doing that to you. Just goes to show you the uniform doesn't make 'em a better person, just let's the ones be worse. Hope it pans out somehow for you. Let me know if there's anything I can do... Glad to hear you're ok though.

That is a serious shame. Always good to come out of a accident without injury though. Bet you would like to get your hands on that guy that clipped you. I was on my way to work just this week on Tonkin Hwy and a commodore was right up my ass and he spun out just centimeters from me doing 100ks changing into the left lane.. hate to imagine what would have happened if he was that few centimeters closer.. Hope you can get it sorted soon.

Wow. This is a truly saddening story. Adam, you just HAVE to lodge a complaint with the police department. Demand a written apology from the traffic cop in question, for basically causing you undue stress while you were, in all likelihood, in shock after the accident. And essentially calling you a liar when he threatened you with charges. http://police.wa.gov.au/Aboutus/Complaints/tabid/1051/Default.aspx Seriously dude, don't stand for it. Get a complaint and investigation recorded against this dickhead officer.
