Hmm, the soarer would probably beat the rexy when aerodynamics come into account, but on take off, nah. I was even with my mates HSV 200kw senator because of the aerodynamics of the soarer.

crap... i was thinking the soarer was more for freeway driving as the WRX was more adapted to winding rally courses...

hahaha i wish, the average V8 does a mid 15-mid-high15 1/4 mile what the sti do flat 14's high 13's std?? the difference is in reality at least an 80m win over the 1/4 if not more... where the V8 soarer wins in in luxury comfort sound and burnouts, also coolness whilst not being a cop magnet

Still doubt it. 206kw and a couple hundred kg less will account for the lag that there won't be any of any way. Over 140 the soarer would be a good match. But then you hit the wall at a gay 179 lol.. All asuming the Sti us totally std

The WRX sti will beat a stock V8 Soarer from start to finish standing start, rolling start, downhill, uphill, corners, dirt, ice, track etc.

I agree with Rob. as much as i wish that a soarer would win the WRX is lighter is turbocharged its designed to race around corners. And the best part its AWD so it'd launch off the start line Turbo charged V8 soarer is the solution to this dilema

dont forget though the driveline losses, up to 160ish not really an issue, but at higher speeds its much harder to overcome, i had a awd car with 175awkw and over 130ish km/h it was no faster than a 2wd with considerably less power.... infact i was making 40kw more atw than an identical but 2wd car, exacly same 1/4 mile times we did but his was 5mph faster, mine though was far more consistant, where i was winning big time was 60' and up to half track... a stock V8 soarer will do 153km/h terminal speed over the 1/4 i cant see a older Wrx being much more than 164km/h anyway get a TT and wait for him to finnish...

The new 09wrx non sti model will destroy a stock v8 or tt. They are pretty good for $40k new. Modified is another story, talking about how long is a piece of string. I still think uzz31s are some of the comfiest cars around though, even compared to modern stuff.

Considering there is only 1 based SOR n 2 North? You need to get ready for all the non-collected impounds they are going to outfit with mobile TARDIS, now the police have got over 3000 uncollected vehicles from they new rego laws the game just got fun.

Early Rexes and Evos look just fine to me. I'm a big fan of the new Evo stuff come to think of it too. And yes the stock STI will beat a stock V8 Soarer everywhere, every day, every condition...you'd need to spend big dollars on a V8 to get it to that kind of reliable pace. TT on the other hand... |

I know for a dire fact that in Perth Cops drive Falcons (standard and XR6 Turbo) commodores (standard and SV6) Magna's, Camry's, WRX's and STI's. Anyways... a V8 soarer against an STI ?? LOL !!! my GT35R Soarer could barely keep up with one. They're quick cars. I went up against 1 that was completely stock down a long straight "private" road and we were neck and neck the whole way.

V8's were meant for cruising. WRX Sti is a focused race car, hardly a fair comparison. Besides, V8 is NA and the Sti is Turbo charged.

Beauty is in the eye and all that. I figured at least the guy who designed them must have thought they are nice to look at, so some other people must agree with them, but to me they look like what they are, boring saloon cars for the masses with lots of "go fast" bits tacked on to them. |

Yeah, EJ22 - 2.2L 257kw with 363 Nm torque! I did an assignment on Jap turbo engines a while back and the EJ22 was the best for power/cc output.

They definately like rolling around in the new hatchback WRX'S that for sure, my mates little brother found out the hard way.... he had a drag against one down North Lake rd in Kardy in his 91 V8 ltd a couple of months back thinking they wanted a "GO" from the lights, they let him take off ahead of them a bit, waited till he hit about 135kph (in a 70kph zone) before they pulled up behind him and hit the blue lights. Impounded the car on the spot, fine & court costs, about $900 to get the car out of impound a month later and loss of license. |

Cops in NZ use a whole range of vehicles for the plain clothes, I've seen Mazda 6's, Honda Accord Euros, and Toyota Aurions... but they only ever use Commonwhores for panda cars, god knows why an Aurion would be a better choice I would have thought.

Technically a rotor (according to FIA) is actually double its noted capacity as it has 2 combustions per 4 stroke revolution, ie like a 2 stroke engine So a 13b would actually be 2.6L. So you look at the new RX8 for example with 180kw or so and about 220nm of torque and it looks pretty bad when its technically a 2.6L. Note also that RX8 uses the gas of a 3.0-3.5L engine. It's aweful. |

I don't like rotors so I'm not sticking up for them. But even if they are rated 2x capacity 180kw from 2600cc is still impressive without forced induction.... But regardless of how many powerstrokes per revolution it's stil a 1.3L

Speaking from experience cos i had a 12a j port in the back of a classic 55"oval vw beetle, yeah they hammer, but what they have in power they quickly lose in reliability. Bet you wont find to many rotors out there with 200k's on the clock without having been rebuilt, maybe even twice Go toyota, you good thing

The RX-7 SP produced 204 kW (274 hp) and 357 N·m just like the 22b a very short run production car.... who said they have no torque? see what happens with a snail, 220nm goes to a 4.0L falconish (well ef/el) 357nm fuel probably goes into 4wd land, but who cares.... must be funn doing a zillion rpm.... well in a weekend car, daily it'd drive me nuts

The 13b rotor is actually a 1.3L, while the 20B is a 2.0L triple rotor as the rotor cc size is around 697cc.
