Is it just me or does it seem like the large majority of people working in car audio know nothing more then the name on the stereo.... I resently bought a pioneer in dash dvd and was told by the bloke at J.B. that it was not possible to run it with the pioneer cd player i already had...WRONG.... So i took the equipment to AutoBarn were a few people i know work to get them installed and there installer couldnt remove the stock head unit. He then started to tell me the unit had to be removed from behind by starting at the far side of the glove box and working across, I knew this was wrong but bye this stage i just wanted the keys back and this bloke to never touch my car again.... Now im not that great with the tech stuff but then again i dont do it for a living.....

stereo installs = piece of piss. Except for in gz20's. Had to pull the gear changer out and the little spring in the od button is impossible to get back in. cost me $110 to get new gear shifter. Got next HU installed for $50

you shouldnt generalise about your bad experiences.
There are good and bad sales people out there. Try to find the department manager when bying stuff from JB, they are usually pretty good, other wise you might just get a guy from another dept filling a lunch break.
I have never paid anyone to instal any audio in my car. I would rather do it all myself. its pretty simple.....
Its very easy to get a soarer head unit out. if you knwo how!
