That bites! Sincerely hope you manage to get it cleaned up without TOO much drama Jeff, although I suspect it'll be a pain. It had to be such a beautiful black car that copped it too didn't it. Some people just need a freakin' bullet!

Jeff, I feel your pain. The EXACT same thing happened to me. Except worse. Driving home from work late at night, drove over PINK paint spread across the road. Did not think anything of it as I made the very stupid assumption it would be dry despite not having seen it before. Thus my dad comes into my room the next morning and says, what the hell happened to your car. Pink paint was all up the sides, speckled underneath, just F'ing everywhere. It still remains on there to today in a lot of sections because I got sick of trying to take it all off, everytime you got some you would just see a new section. This was on a blue car too so it stood out like the proverbial parrot's. Eventually I will get the car blown over with the same paint but yes, considering I had only had the car for four months and worked so hard to get it it just about made me cry.

I couldnt think of anything worse than having PINK paint speckles over your car. Luke, i bet you felt like wearing a skirt for the occasion ... hehe

| Yeh luke i got to the paint before it dried on the side of the car but for under the car i just painted over it with flat black paint it worked a treat. If it had dried it would have been a big problem.I too nearly cried but the anger stopped that, and as they say no point crying over spilt milk just get over it and work through it.

For future reference if anyone gets any paint on their cars try using professional car detailer clay. I found out about this stuff after 16 cars at work got accidentally covered in white enamel over spray (one is only 3 weeks old). Some were so bad you could hardly see out of the windows. Mobile car care were called immediately and they used this clay on the cars and the paint came off. Have already ordered a couple of tubs of this stuff (around $35) as it is so much better and easier that the paint cleaner I currently use. Will find out the name of it tomorrow and let you all know.

I got gray paint splattered on my windshield (turns out they were repainting the pilons) while crossing the Auckland Harbour Bridge a few months back. Fortunately I couldnt find any specs on the paintwork so just scraped it off the glass. Read in the paper the next day some drivers weren't so lucky...

SIGH......why does my Soarer keep acting like a magnet? It was hit by someone on a bicycle for the second time yesterday, left about a six inch scratch on drivers door that has resulted in the paint peeling off there and a dent in the bit under the door...my poor baby. I'll give her six months and then take her in for a decent panel beating and some new paint.

Yeah, mines the same. I always come back after going to the supermarket or whatever and find some new scrape, ding or crease that someone has left for me. It was totally scratch free 6 months ago, now its got a nasty crease in the lower rear of the front drivers guard, a scrape (ok that ones my fault) in the left front bumper, numerous SUV/van hight "door open into car next to you" dings along the side of it, cat claw scratches on the bonnet (don't ask) and thats not including the stuff I've already had fixed!

The mobile car care guys said any professional clay would get rid of the impurities on the cars. They use a medium grade, but you can also get coarser grade if your cars really bad. There are different brands available, but you will have to see which ones you can get, but they are all good.

Planning on spending some time cleaning it up again this weekend (even though I just polished it 3 weeks ago) so I'll see what I can find.

| If ya's wanna "Boutique" sized bar, get a Meguires or Mothers brand. A bit on the (expensive) & teensy side, but good, none the less. BUT if ya wanna get the stuff that the pro's use, find yourself a 3M stockist, and get a tub/pail of the stuff. As Tamatha has said, it's available in various grades, depending on how rooted the paint surface is.

The guys at work gave me a hard time about using thinners. One of them said it would have taken the clear coat off.Any truth to this or just a good wax should do the trick? After i used the thinners it didn't leave the paint work dull so i think i didn't take to mutch off.

Jeff, I've used thinners on my original Teal paint (to remove adhesive where badges were stuck on) and had no problem at all with clear coat removal. I would just wax and forget
