Is the right battery to use for the Twin Turbo GT-TL the same as the V8. I am thinking of getting a BOSCH BN70ZZ.

It looks to be used on the Supra Turbo (88 on) and also on most of the Lexus'.

Will thats a pretty damn big battery. N70's generally only get used on 4WD's and small tractors.

The N70's we sell at work (power batt) are are 15 plate, 600-660CC, i doubt they are much diff between the brands.

That's what century apparently recommend for the soarer, a 4wd battery! I settled for the somewhat smaller version. According to the book, it's listed for the hsv grange, so if it can spin a 5.7L V8, then my humble 'ol 2.5L jet engine should pose no problem :-)

After reading through some of the other threads (I did a search after the thread was started), most people were recommending a N70ZZL or N70ZZ. I went to Supercheap today and bought a BOSCH N70ZZ battery, only to find that I had to turn the battery around so the cables could actually reach.

So now my negative terminal is on the driver's side of the car, and my positive terminal on the passenger side.

Also replaced the terminals with some seriously nice, brass and strong ones.

I think the "L" at the end means that the terminals are in the opposite orientation (i.e. correct for the Soarer).

The battery listed for a Supra fits (I think it's the same for the Mk3 and Mk4). When I measured up, it looked as if the battery listed for a 4 litre Landcruiser diesel would fit the tray.

This is in the UK, of course.

Performance wise, anything over about 500CCA works fine for the UZZ30 - I would think the JZZ30 could get away with less.

Mines a 560cca one, works well on startup etc.
Except everything seems to slow down or dim lightly when i come to a stop on a winter evening (headlights, heater on etc).

Should i check the grounding points or?
Ive cleaned the terminals so they look new.

Mines rated at 600CCA and starts beautifully now. I have brand new terminals and did the whole new grease thing and all. Solid connections.

Check your alternator output at idle. Battery should be well up to it.

Aircon won't work without the engine running - all you'll get is the fan.

Just checked mine; got the biggest mf I could. It's a commercial Yuasa 17 plate and 700cca.
Hope I get my $200 worth.
