I last bought plug leads about 4 years ago - got them off Trademe for $60 as I recall - they were Malaysian and about what you'd expect for $60 - one of the plug end clips self destructed after about 2 years (so I used cable ties to hold the lead in place), and 4 more went when I pulled the distributor out to replace the o-ring on the weekend - plus the glue on the seals at the plug ends had let go on a couple of them.
Unable to purchase the end clips separately, I figured I'd gotten 4 years out of a dodgy set of Internet specials, and money isn't tight any more like it used to be, so time to treat the old girl to some quality leads.
Supercheap couldn't help - seems Bosch don't do leads for the 2JZ-GE & they only deal with Bosch.
Repco quoted me $360 for a set of Champion or $300 for Magnecor.
I found a set of Magnecor on line for $280.
Thought I might as well check out Toyota's price.
$320+GST for an OEM set from Waikato Toyota - I told him I could get Magnecor for $280 and he said "let me see what I can do"
He called me back an hour later and said he could do them for $192+GST!
So I've just installed them into the car (really showed up how crap the old ones were comparing them with the new OEM ones)

No change in performance, the old leads were only 4 years old so they still had good resistance - the leads themselves were actually pretty good quality, it was all the plastic clips and end tubes that were rubbish. Replaced the plugs about 20,000km ago at the 100,000km service so they are all good, and the cap is good too. I should probably replace the distributor rotor though as it is looking a little worn.
Of course when the plugs pop off the distributor cap because of the broken clips performance suffers a tad! Clips on the Toyota leads are top quality, so I doubt they will break again.
