Bugger what they look like, do they improve night vision on your average road?

I'm getting really tired of having to get out and see if my lo beams are actually on! Serious.

ahhh i remember those days... the days where people would flash their lights at me because i didn't know my lights were off hahaha...

yeah HIDs are great... supposidly 10x brighter but for me i reckon it gives enough visibility to drive safely:-)

Jeff, they do put out better light on the road. I'm yet to take some pics of in-cabin, but street signs and lane markings are easier to see (much more reflective) as well as seeing emergency vehicles from further distances.

I got my 4300k HID kit from Ians and i'm very happy with the HID kit

The HID really lights up the road and the cat eyes too!!

If you can get 10+ people interested in getting the HID Kits, i'm sure Ian will be happy to do a group buy for the club

Check out Ian's site:

which part you dont understand mate? think of an ignition coil...then think of the spark that comes out of it....then when that ignites the special gas inside the bulb that is what produces the massive amount of light..

a coventional bulb has a filament just like the light globe in your average house.it works by causing resistence which makes the filament "burn" hence produces light.

both are totally different to each other. hid system also uses much less power compared to conventional lighting system..

hope this helps..

Thanks for clearing things up Muz.

Kris, the HID system is literally plug and play. The hardest part of the install is finding a place to mount the ballast, but all it is (connection wise) is OEM headlight connector -> HID ballast -> HID wiring harness (if it's a separate part like in mine) -> HID globe. The HID-look lights that can be easily scooped up on eBay don't do jack for the lighting... the white light emitted is actually dimmer than the OEM bulbs (which aren't too bad if you've got near new headlights) as they are tinted blue (in all cases I've seen anyway).

Sigh. I've been trying to contact Ian for a long long time, with no avail. Does anyone have his number, or email? I've lost his number, and my computer's motherboard fried itself.
