I am interested in installing a Factory sunroof. I don't have a sunroof right now. Anyone has done it before? Please note: I want to install the factory sunroof not a aftermarket one. I know that the sunroof parts and switch is easy to get, just the installation part I am not so sure about.

I am trying to sell a sunroof setup complete. I think that it would be easy to fit a sunroof as all you would need is the loom and splice it into power, earth etc. You will need to see if your car has the mounting points, or make some, and of course there is the small matter of cutting a hole.

BUT

I was talking to another Soarer owner once, and he said there was a difference in the shape of part of the roof bracing between sunroof/non sunroof models.

I can take a pic of the stripped roof in my sunroof model showing what it looks like, and maybe someone could get a picture of a non sunroof roof stripped for comparison?

Or maybe some one who actually knows for sure if there is any difference can chime in?

Mr Fuches here in NZ did that I believe to his UZZ32, not a bad move on a UZZ32.

But I see it as a big waste of money and time on the mainstream models.

Hey George,

The best way of doing it would be to change the whole roof to a factory sunroof roof, just needs a good panel shop to do the job properly. Sounds crazy but its not too much of a big job.

Smokers would make the most use of it I imagine. As Wafi mentioned, you swap the whole roof, much easier that way. Was offered one with sunroof for $300 2 years ago. The value shouldn't have changed much since then.

Yeah but I live 50m from the beach. Wouldn't be worth the effort involved in installing one though.

i use it everyday

4th car with a sunroof, yet the only one i've really used it in..... ok 2nd car with sunroof, the other 2 had moon roofs +1 soft top

i use tilt a lot more than the slide

I don't drive the car everyday but i use the sunroof every weekend when i drive the car :-)

I mean, thats its purpose afterall, being so warm in qld and going for a drive with the sunroof open. Not that i've owned it that long, but thats still every time so far :-)
