G'day folks, please forgive the slightly off-topic nature of this post, but I have an interesting proposition to make...
I've just booked myself some tickets to come over to Sydney on Wed 22nd Nov for a school mates wedding, and he's hired a houseboat on the Hawkesbury for a few days beforehand. Problem is I'm flying in at 6pm on Wed so will have to get a hire car to get up there as they will have by then been sitting on the top deck with some beers all afternoon.
Anyhoo...my thoughts turned to asking you fine folks for advice on how long the drive would take, and if you could suggest some good car hire places (you may still do so right now, and not continue reading, as you have probably guessed what I'm going to suggest..)
THEN, having looked at Google Earth, I thought " that looks like the kind of drive the mighty Soarer was made for !"
THEN, I thought..why not ask on Soarer Central; that way I get the chance to meet a real Aussie Soarer Owner (and get my picture taken ) AND get to Hawkesbury in style whilst talking about Soarer stuff. (Kiwi-bashing (verbal) will also be on the menu )
ALL fuel & food/drink costs will be paid for by me (as well as for the drivers return trip), so we can drop in on your favourite burger joint on route or whatever.

Oh man thats really cool Mark. Ryan is an awesome guy. He once showed some tourists around one of our favorite heritage listed sites: Belangalo State Forrest. Those tourists had the time of their lives.
Lucky for you Ryan's parole will be over when you get here!

It's been a few months since my trip to Sydney, and i can confirm that Ryan very kindly picked me up from the airport and drove me all the way up to the Hawkesbury in Soarer comfort.
I had the impression that Ryan was on his way up there anyway, but nope, he was turning right round and going back home after dropping me off. Needless to say, Ryan is a great guy, an asset to the Soarer community, and an excellent Aussie ambassador. Beers are on me Ryan if you are ever over here in NZ or I'm back in Sydney at any stage. Cheers mate!
