| Neil, it looks to me like they have small vents on both sides - like breathers.

Correct Miles. If an engine didnt need a PCV, then why would engineers include it in the first place ? In the the old days it was called a Fume Pipe, BUT, they didnt have anywhere near the amount of pressure in them.

Trumpets not needed as its Forced induction Savo. Thr trumpets would probably only hinder airflow inside the box with forced air trying to get up and over the trumpets i assume. Different in a N/A car, where the trumpets help with airflow.

true, but low trups wont harm force induction( just to smooth flow into the chambers), to me the inlet pipes dont looked smoothed off may be the pic you cant really tell.

ah boys and girls the reason why engines have pcv system is purely an emission control device ,its also handy that having a low crankcase pressure helps keep the oil on the inside

I'm fairly sure PCV = Pressure check valve. More to do with crankcase pressure control than exhaust emissions.

I guess running a higher crank case pressure might lead to increased oil consumption (possibly?) but I doubt it would make a huge difference - definitely more of an engine saving feature.

PCV = Positive Crankcase Ventilation. Its to allow any blow-by pressure to be scavenged back into the intake system for combustion, instead of it being vented to atmosphere. Definately an emission control device.

The point is its required to maintain engine integrity, and its not simply an emissions control device like EGR. |

POSITIVE crankcase ventilation. That means it needs suction. It likes to be sucked. Who doesn't? Pull a motor apart and have a look at the front and rear main seals, and the cam seals. Look at how you put them in, and tell me you can't see why they would like a bit of suction behind them, and hate pressure.

Understood Ross, let just say it hits two birds with one stone. Even if it wasn't used for emissions control, its required to prevent seal blowout. I'd say seals blowing out is more of an issue than 'recirculating blow-by gasses for emissions control'

Now you can see If you don't have a PCV connected to Intake and the breather hose prior Throttle Body. How does one expect any form of recirculation to occur ? What we end up with is POSTIVE PRESSURE in the Crank Case ! Hasta-La-Vista Seals That was an easy Class, lets move onto more harder stuff
