Hi, I'm in need of new tyres on the front of the V8 LTD. I currently run 235/40/18's with no trouble but I can get a cheap pair of 245's. Does anybody run anything this wide on the front? Any problems/scrubbing etc?

WOuldnt imagine the change from 235 to 245's would be that substantial. its only 10mm, so 5mm each side of centre. HOw wide are your rear tyres? You wouldnt go any wider than the rears if they are still only 235. but if they are, then they should fit no probs.

peter, i used to run 245 in the front with 19inch tyre, no problem no rub. The ride was great, and good on the fast corner as well. But i not sure about 18inch.

The width will certainly not be an issue on the front mate, providing your rims offset is somewhere near the mark anything from +38 upwards should see you not scrubbing, even if shes sitting pretty damn low.

I agree with the above. I'm running 275's on the front with 50 offset / 18's. Width is not an issue. Tram-linning can become an issue with the wider tires. I wouldn't hesitate running 245's.

Jeff, there is a good picture of my tyres right here - 1/2 way down the page ........the 275's have two grooves, the 295's lots of grooves ..... http://www.advance2day.com/alsc_story.html

Ahh cool. Only reason I mentioned it, myself and a few mates were doing some (very unscientific) testing of different tyres. It was all just seat of the pants sort of stuff. We found that the tyres with a large central groove tramlined like nobodys business, lateral grip seemed bloody good however and noise levels seemed a bit higher.

That's interesting, I'll try a different style next time. One without the grooves and let you all know what I find. It maybe a few months down the road though. It's a lot of rubber to wear out.
