Yesterday around 5:30 pm i was comming out of the petrol station and was travaling home, when a little exel didnt give way while comming out of the train station car park.
She just drove out like I wasnt there, luckly she didnt stop or else I would have hit her strait on the drivers door.
I ended up collecting the rear quater panel on the exel, Therefor I hit her on my front drivers side... Absolutly gutterd....
So it was totaly her fult and she knows that, she is fully insured wich is good, and I have a few witnesess too....

So sh!t happends I guess luckly no one was injerd.

Bummer Kevin

From the pic it looks like the guard & headlight took most of the impact........the front bar looks like it absorbed a lot of it.

There doesnt seem to be structural damage to the chassi but could it be a write off. There is a good 4 grand damage at least done to it and then painting it.

Do you want it repaired?

It is a pretty straight forward fix. Hope all the best for you.

Please explain...

Most insurance companies will repair the car if the damage comes to less than 75-80% of the agreed value, you usually don't get to chose whether they repair or scrap it, or at least that has been the case in my claim, and that of everyone else I know!

$4k?...dude, i had my rear quarter choppped off, re-welded on, with the wheel arch basically being rebuilt, the car resprayed to a totally new colour, including inside the door sills and all that and it only cost me $3000.. no way is there $4000 of damage there unless your an over-pricing son of a dog..

New fender, new bonnet, new front bar. All which can be sourced second hand. These parts plus paint shouldn't cost $4000. And if they do, change smash repairer :-)

Bad luck on that accident though. If that was me, I'd probably be in jail for physically abusing the other driver!

Since it's not his fault I would expect everything to be fixed properly (new parts). That will cost a lot more than $4K.

It doesn't look like a std. Soarer colour but I could be wrong. If it isn't then paint matching comes into it which means you have to use a top of the line paint shop. They ain't cheap.

I would say a proper job with new parts would cost around $6K.

Yeah Benny, I know those parts brand new would cost well ove $4000. I was just saying that IF her insurance company somehow gets out of it, he'll at least know he won't have to spend 4K just to fix his car.

But hopefully she'll pay up.

Maybe it would be a good thing to get the car written off (if you can buy the wreck).

You can THEN go get second hand parts.

Cheers guys, the car is at the panel beaters already and should be fixed by the end of next week.
Benny, the car is stock color (burgandy 3k3)

I dont think they will be using new parts, but to be honest i dont really care. As long as the job is good and back to normal I will be more than happy.

Kevin, don't you think you're rushing into it? Or are you familiar with the panel beaters you are using?
I'd recommend you do some research and some general asking around before you let anyone touch your car.

Are you paying for it Kevin or is her insurance company paying for it?

Fsking insurance companies. I would have thought a "write off" would indicate the car could not be returned to road worthy status.

A write off as in financial write off Callum, no point paying X amount of dollars for something that is not worth the repair.

Vinh
her insurance company is paying to get fixed.

I cant belive how quick the ball is rolling useally it takes a few weeks if not months to get going.

The pannel beaters is a local one who is recommended by her insurance company (RACV)
wich is a good pannel beater cos i know alot of people who has used them, so that was a bonus.

guys its only the bonnet, gard , bumper and headlight, theres no way it can even come close to a write off. Id need to do about 6 to 8 grands woth of damage before they consider that.

But if it was id be taking of all the goodies before giving the car to them.

Kevin, well at least you know the work they're capable of.
Yeah, I'm surprised they already processed your claim and recommended you a panel beater 48 hours after the accident. Let's hope the panel beaters pay more attention to fixing your car than the insurance money.

I've got a question/rant regarding this kind of stuff...

If you don't know already i was in an accident, i was following my boyfriends car and we were going straight through a T intersection, a lady gave way to his little pulsar but failed to see me. I swerved out of the way (lucky no one was coming from the other direction!) and she hit my passenger side rear wheel and the bumper.

It's been towed by Aami to their workshop/s.... this happened coming on to a month ago now. My car has just been sitting in the hot sun for almost a month now. I call Aami atleast twice a week because no matter how much they say they'll call me they never do. And they never have any information for me, they said because the car is imported they are having trouble getting quotes.

I was devastated at first, now i am just P****d off.... a whole months seems a long time to just have my car sitting there at square one. I don't even know if it is a write off or not yet.

Does this seem right to anyone? Any similar experiences? I think by the end of this week i am going to go into Aami and tell them i need to know what is going on because i just feel like they're doing a big fat nothing :-(

I work 2 jobs for this car, and it sucks paying 90% of my income to a car that i don't even have. I am fortunate enough to have my grandparents Rover to use while they are away, but they will be back in a matter of days and i will be carless. Which isn't going to be easy when i work full time then have to go to my 2nd job and finish by midnight. It is very impossible to work with bus' when i work stupid hours.

I wish i wasn't craving a kebab so badly that day...

If it's taking them a month to do something, try to perhaps speak to their customer relations dept and lodge a complaint. If that fails, call the insurance ombudsman, a month with no progress is way too long. They should not be having any trouble getting quotes, parts are relatively easy to get hold off nowadays, and any panel beater will be able to fix it. Sounds like a bullshit excuse to me.
