I have just about finalised buying this LS400 pictured below. It has 196000kms and has had 2 owners. The first owner purchased it new from Lexus and it came with the extra care package, although I am not sure what that includes.
I spoke to the lexus dealership who advised of every service up to 191000kms and parts changed ie timing belt @ 150k kms, engine mounts @100k kms and so on.
The new owner has owned it for 5000kms and is now selling for their own personal reasons. Is it safe to assume that up until 191000kms the car has been totally looked after and shouldnt be a lemon. I was going to get an NRMA inspection done or the Victorian equivalent but I never got around to it.
I really do trust the seller and he seems very genuine although I have been having second thoughts about the inspection just to make sure that its all fine.
Anyway here is the pics tell me what you guys think. Also how long does a mechanical inspection take to book and perform. If I could book it tomorrow and get it done friday I would go ahead with it but if it is longer there is no point.

Adam, I think you should have an inspection. You must be able to line up someone you trust that knows what they are looking at. With that number of K's I think it would be worth your while. Also, it may give you some info to bargain with.

Dude, I would never buy a car unless I have seen it in person or at the very least have someone inspect it for me (s2 Maurice)
Sure he may seem like a nice guy now, but once you sign those papers he can easily become someone else. You're better off safe than sorry mate, so at least get it inspected by someone you trust.

Bear in mind that there are companies you can use to inspect a car your interested in.
My brother just sold a '93 Trans-Am to some guy from Melbourne. He sent a guy from one such place (VIP or some such). He did a VERY thorough inspection, I wouldn't hesitate to use them. Seemed really switched on.

State Roads, http://www.stateroads.com.au Great testers, get under the car check all welds, measure all paint thickness, couldn't be happier with them. $190 though.
