OK just over the past few days my steering has begun to really groan. It does it when im trying to turn into car parks and around corners in the street. It feels like i have a flat tyre or the power steering pump is on its way out ?
Recently i pumped all tyres up to 37PSI and ironically its only happened since doing that. Yet it doesnt make any sense.
Today i checked the Power Steering fluid level and it seemed ok but Im not sure if it was hi or low.
Any ideas, as its getting worse every day.

I'm only brainstorming here... could a bearing that is on its way out be the cause?

Groaning is usually from air in the P/S system, though that isn't consistent with your level being OK.

I am sure you will get more correct answers during the day.

I'd say top the power steering fluid right up to the top to start off with. Mine was groaning and shuddering about 6 months ago - noticed the level was a bit low, but didn't seem too bad - but when I topped it up, all the problems vanished.

Cool, cheers Matt, thats the first logical step to take. I'll try to get some fluid from SuperCheap today. Thanks Peter for the advice too.
Is there any special fluid to get or will any generic fluid do?

check the level of the fluid, mine was doing that when I first bought the car, and I found 2 pin-holes in one of the high pressure lines.

The growning was from the fluid getting low, and it getting air in the line, the pin-holes cost me $120 at Pirtek to repair, but I did have to remove the part myself.

I've just flushed mine, didn't make much difference though, think I'm up for a rebuilt pump. Noise is the same, a whirring when the vehicle is at idle though.
I used Dextron III.

Are you talking about mine Matt?
(Thread hijack)
It sounds like a bearing, but I'll have to take to pump off to replace the bearing, might as well put a kit in it while it is out.
It's covered in one of the tutorials, just got to get around to doing it.
