I currently have 2 GT v8's. One grass killer and one that my wife drives every day.
I am thinking of reviving the grass killer soon because my work circumstances will likely be changing from requiring a mitsubishi express van, to a car capable of a cheap and comfy 160km round trip to work daily.
With the LPG grant available, etc... I am definately considering it.
Now I know that resale value on a GT v8 absolutely stinks, so that is not going to form part of my calculations. I have actually been trying to sell the damn thing for over 12 months now, not even a bite.
So I figure that it would be better to drive the car since it costs me nothing in repayments, I own it outright, and I will probably need it soon.
Anyway.. My question is, if I get LPG fitted, where the hell do I put the tank?
Can we throw around some suggestions on this please?
Like, I am thinking that possibly pulling out the main tank and installing a small 10 litre petrol tank might be the go, and putting the 80lt LPG tank in place of the 80lt petrol tank??
Ideas?

Hey Geordie,
First things first, before posting up a new thread, make sure to use the search feature, just click search and type "LPG" and you'll be surprised how many times this topic has come up.
Just thought I'd tell you before one of the moderators came around
Second, as for gas, theoretically speaking Soarers are not meant to be run on LPG, they are too classy and "some" say (not "me"), that if you can't drive a soarer on petrol then don't drive it.
LPG can be installed many ways, the first being the normal type of LPG conversion with a LPG converter, and the other being a Vapor Injection setup.
If you were to ask me, I would go for Vapor Injection, as there are two benefits from what I have been told and found out
1. Due to the fact that it's gas injection, the engine works in the exact same manner as it would with petrol, but instead of injecting 98 octane as per premium unleaded, it will be injecting 116 Octane due to gas having more octane rating. I think its 116 Octane anyway, if not well within the mid 100's
2. Your avarage L/100km increases naturally as now the car will be running richer and better.
I have had mates of a friend who claim to be doing 600+ km's on a tank of 60L of LPG on the vapor injection kit
The downfall to it though, it will cost you around the 4K margin, but it is money well spent. I put together a few numbers, and found out that you can actually make up the 2K extra you spend out of your own pocket in about 7 months.
As for the tank, the best way of going about it, is for 3 consecutive scuba-lookalike tanks to be placed inline with one another under the car and the capacity takes upto be about 60L.
How do I know all this???? I am on the verge of undergoing a vapor injection system for my car that's why.
Hope that was helpful
P.S. Don't forget to use the Search button up the top next time

I concur with Ali re Vapour Gas Injection, I'm thinking of it for our Soarer when we move to WA ( where the subsidy is $3000).
I can't see how three tanks could fit underneath?
I would be putting in a toroidal tank (in the spare wheel well, at least for a Falcon they are available up to 78 litres. The spare is an issue- I would use a space saver, and around town just carry a couple of "puncture repairs in a can". I also have a tubeless tyre repair kit and a compressor, which could replace the spare (and often do on later Euro cars) but I'd prefer a spare in outback regions.
Our car is VVTi six but the savings are still massive, and we might have some long runs (1250 km Exmouth the Perth etc).
The main issue for us is whether we can get two subsidies (one for me one for wife) as my next 4WD is likely to be petrol, not diesel as at present. The 4wd would have a higher priority, and we might have to go some distance to get ours fitted (especially vapour injection).

the injection kits need one hall effect sensor or dizzy for the ign signals. 2 independent dizzys crossfiring the banks is the problem as the SVI kits need 1 dizzy or ign source...

There's also LP Gas 1 at Lyndale, that's who I'm going to be dealing with...If I can recall from memory I don't think Parnell dealt with Soarer's.
I know for a fact though that LP Gas 1 does deal with Soarer's, they have done many a conversions, including shyt loads of Celsiors, which mind ya use the same engine's as us, so they know quite a bit about 1UZ-FE setups
