We had a company function tonight which meant I got pissed and the wife got to drive the supercharged v8 for the very first time...

I slipped it into second (from the passenger side) through the tunnel and told her to plant it - which she did. She was gratified with echoing supercharged v8 goodness blasting out of Neil’s extractors and then out the back via two 3" HKS Silent hi-power exhausts.

The roar was on par with v8 supercar madness and I could see I glimmer of satisfaction across her face...:-)

We continue on now focusing on 130db of stereo joy right through to the final leg of the journey.

I'm slipping it back into second at the earliest opportunity and demanding she trump it...The car is sucking in 12 degree's of cool air with gusto and sounding like a lion in full heat towards its prey....there is no one on the road but us and it's obvious that she's well bitten by the veracious power....

I crank up Nickleback "Next Contestant" to 25 on the stereo that maxes to 35...It's at concert levels and she's finally appreciating the car for all that it is....we near the final roundabout and she says....

"Let's continue on for a cruise"...

...that's all that is needed to be said...The wife is truly won over and I believe she finally understands why I've committed so much time and energy over a car....

It was a sweet moment to enjoy....:-)

Only problem is, she'll now borrow the car at every opportunity. Even worse, she'll want one of her own.

Gregg;
It is a glorious thing isn't it (when the wifes enjoy the cars).
Marianne (my wife) used to drive the 2jz soarer(300rwkw) every were and i just about had to race her to the drivers seat.
mate it made my life so much easier to have her love driving the car.
Now she has been bitten with the V8 sound all i have to do is create the power now.

Thats Awsome Gregg...

While we are at it, here is my story from last week:-)

I had spent the week before fitting aftermarket Dump pipes to my TT. Had the front pipe redone and all was good. Except the exhaust guy laughed at the pathetic excuse for a CAT under my car ( NO DON not a fluffy one, hehe).

So i mentioned to the MRS i really want to get one of those Catco 3 inch Metal Cats!!!!!

To which she gave me the money to go and get done 1st thing MOnday morning whilst i was still on holidays..

Monday morning comes around and i get in my car and drive 3/4's of the way to Liverpool ( which is about 30km's from my place), But i turned around and came home! For some reason i felt bad for just going and spending the $380 it was gonna cost me, as Myself and the Mrs are trying hard to save for something..

Wife rings me at 1pm and says," Hi babe, Hows your day? Have you gone to the Zorst shop yet?"
... And i told her that i felt bad spending the money when knowing full and well it should be going somewhere else... To which she replied...

" For God sakes, Didnt you say your car needed this to go faster and run better? Just get in the car and drive to Liverpool and get the Cat done!!! Love you, see you tonight"...

And so i went and bought it and got it fitted which im so glad as the other Cat was pretty restrictive!

God i am a lucky man:-)

I went out last night for a cruise as well, took a few friends out that moved to Sydney (from Melbourne).

Went and met with another car lcub group that I am a part of, and I said to the guy "What kind of day have you had?"

He had enjoyed a relaxing cruisey Friday, and I had a bastard of a day so I handed him the keys and said "Sweet, your drivign home" and proceeded to get tanked.

about 2am this morning he drove us home, his better half loving the sound from the twin turbos, and the smooth but strong power delivery from the car.

I was tanked enough that when he got to our place, I bid him fairwell and went inside (not realising he only had my car to go home with).

This morning I woke up feeling sorry for myself, then realiased " got damn someone else has MY CAR", and got straight on the phone, and he was literally pulling into my drive as I called him.

Anyway, the reviews that came back from him where awesome, he livef the drive, the power delivery, how the car handled in the wet, and how it was pretty much useless unless TRC was on.

Car was fine, no damage, no klingon's on the dash, and everything was in fine working order.

He then asked me if I was looking to sell, as he wants to sell the Mazda 626 his wife drives, and get a better car, and he loves the Soarer.

This was coming from someone who currently drives the New Mazda 6 MPS turbo, wanting to get a Soarer TT into his posessions.

I was quite satisfied that someone wants to drop their luxury MPS for a 16 yr old import.

It's a great feeling when people appreciate your car, and what work you have done to the car.

Gotta love it when the wife shows total appreciation for your car, especially when you see the wicked gleem in their eyes when they floor it

The little lady and I went shopping the other week.
Naturally I drove, as its MY car.
Anyhoo, she wanted to drive home, so in a moment of weakness I let her.
About 5 minutes afterwards I remembered that she had NEVER driven a sports car, let alone one with twins, and I promptly started getting concerned.

Not to long after that we pulled up at the lights, I wanted to change places and she replied "Calm down, it's insured!".
Then some nobby pulled up along side in his V8 uterus and started gunning his engine.
It was pretty much downhill from there as the wifey said "Check out this wanker", and promptly slammed the accelerator all the way to the floor.

I learned 2 things that day-
1. This guys car was all show and no go
2. My missus drives like a DEMON!!!

And now it's ME telling her not to speed and to slow down for corners.
How wrong is that

Ohhhh these stories are all brilliant...fortunately I too am one of the lucky ones...

Prior to driving the car, the missus (to be) was always..."bubba its a car, get over it" and "can you stop spending money for once" and so on and so forth.

Until she drove the beast that is....annnnnnnnnd its all over...

"Bubba, you know I love you...can we swap cars for like a week???"

Don't you just love it?

My wonderful girlfriend is a car nut, so I too am one of the lucky ones. She works the Clipsal 500 every year as a Medic for the Drivers/Pit Crews as she loves the sounds of the v8's. Pen kindly took her for a spin in his car as mine only has a stock zorst at present. She immediately started telling me to save money to get a new one! She loves driving my car and is a good driver so I don't stress when she takes it. Interestingly though I drove her Mazda 3 (new one, manual) down through the hills on the way back from Swan Reach last weekend. She knows the roads really well and was calling the turns for me, with gradings of 1 to 5 like a rally co-pilot, so I was able to really give it some stick through the corners. STACKS of fun driving a little light manual through those turns. Had the car right on the edge of traction and the girlfriend wasn't even flinching, just commenting on how well I was driving it LOL

OK bring on the abuse for enjoying a Mazda 3.....

Nothing wrong with Mazda 3's - especially the SP23 or even better MPS model. They are not light though, only around 250kg's lighter than a UZZ30, which considering their size is quite surprising.

My mrs likes the Soarer, but not a fan of my other cars/bikes.

St162 Celica, RA60 Celica, FZR600 and some chinese 250 dirt bike. Plus the Soarer, she thinks I have a bad habit.
