First of all i know that the thread was closed end of discussion however i'd like to voice my opinions on the recent banning of people since the changeover to soarercentral.
I understand your mentality peter on keeping the forums clean however isn't it a bit childish to ban shannon over his opinions.
You say that you banned him 'as he has seen fit to keep on with his crusade on SC and that affects all users of the forum'. However as far as i can see from the thread he was only voicing his opinions.
There were no tasteless remarks (made in public at least, i've read his email and agree that yes it is offensive however if you were in his shoes you and you were being targetted personally then you too would be agrivated.
Personally i (and a few others) think you're on a power trip peter. Don't be selective on who you enforce your rules on. eg the toan / lew incident. But yeah thats my 10 cents.

Guys, I gave Shannon every chance to let it drop and just get on with using SC.
He chose to keep it going.
If it was a power trip I would have banned him when he wrote the vile emails to me. But I didn't.
The other incident was also decided by the fact that the issue was kept going by one party.
There comes a time with issues that get off the rails to just sit back, let it go and start again. I am happy for this to happen, and tried to get it to happen in both cases.
But if a user tries to keep the antagonism going after being asked to stop, then they get suspended.
Simple. No favouritism involved.
The forum is here for all members of the Soarer community and I am not going to let it be dragged down by issues that don't need to be here.
This isn't a democracy, it's a private forum run by myself with the help of the moderators.
You can campaign as much as you like, but it doesn't alter the facts.
Anyone that continues after being asked to desist will get suspended - there isn't any other course open to us to manage the forum.

I'm not going to go into it again, and I know the mods say what is what ect, but I personally feel the matter is far from closed and requires further discussion which should include Shannon, give him a chance to defend himself.
On this note in the email sent to Shannon
"I also have a responsibility to paid sponsors to keep SC as a high quality forum and attractive to new users."
You have a point there, but I also think that new users should be given the chance to see what they are potentially getting themselves in for and what goes on if they join.
I see it as false advertising by trying to hide so instances from potential new users.
Having said that though, 98% of the time, ALSC / SC is a great informative site to visit and I personally look forward to reading new posts and meeting new people, this issue however has just gotten to me.

Morgan, you just went into it again.
You argument about false advertising is just plain silly. New users have a right to expect a moderated board. Why do you think we have moderators in the first place?
There is no room for discussion any further on this. Read "this isn't a democracy".

Yes i agree with you in that repect peter, yes, alsc is not a democracy. We as the users are not free from your big brother nazi style rule. There is no such thing as equality in alsc. We the user are discriminated because we do not know you personally.
And yes there is nothing we can do about it. You being the owner of this private forum can do whatever you want. If its a forum of lies and deciept (by limiting people say and limiting their personal opinions) then hey i'm sure that this is the ideal image to portray to new potential users.
As a business owner i'm sure you understand the concept of customer loyalty and in this case you are definately not showing any duty of care towards the current members in the forum.
But this is just my opinion. Its not like anything will come from my rant. I mean... its not a democracy.

That's right; and Peter is lenient compared to when "The Boss" wielded the BIG HAMMER - Pull your Heads in I've had my Head pulled in many times on the 'old ALSC Forum' so Shannon shouldn't feel singled out - just move on and "Get Over it" - It's all Good Fun

Come on guys, you have to remember peters from South Australia, They dislike victorians because we took the GP off them before they got the chance to sell it to Malaysia.....

False advertising in that this is advertised as a nice place (which it is 90% of the time) but by hiding what DOES happen and how these matters are handled (Bans and thread closures before discussion can be made), such as this, you aren't really painting an accurate picture for people to join.
Like, are you sure people would want to join ALSC if they knew this had gone on? On the other side of the fence, I know that people may not want to join if the place wasn't moderated, so I will keep it shut from now on.
I'm done on the issue, and don't want to make any enemies for just speaking my mind, so I'll go and post something Soarer related
