Excellent post Shane. There you have it Charlie, buy my car it basically fits the above description minus the cruise control and is in that price bracket! But seriously though, just go and take one for a test drive and you'll be sold. These cars are awesome, follow Shane's advice, find one you want and look forward to trouble-free, exciting ownership!
Hey Shane just in regards to your post about blowing black smoke, could that also be because the car is running a bit rich? I was cruising with another soarer a while back and his was blowing just a tiny bit of what I'd call turbo smoke when he booted it. If its the turbos would it be a lot of black smoke? His car is modified as well, similar to mine I think but without the HKS Pod and Intake (i.e. FMIC, exhaust, but hasn't been tuned)

yeah, black smoke at start-up and when giving it a boot is generally an indication of worn turbos, its generally a nice big cloud, not just a few little wisps....could also be that he's running a "high flow" cat, tend to get a bit more smoke if running rich cos its not being filtered out as much...or possibly worn valve seals, though i was under the impression that was more white smoke than black...
Hey, my car blows a little bit of smoke, can only see it at night when there's a car driving behind me with lights shining... is that normal? I get this black crap on the back of my car if I don't wash it for two or three weeks or so... (maybe coz I warm it up in the morning for five or ten minutes and the smoke just rises up from the exhaust I don't know. It's only a little bit of smoke so do I need to worry?

sweet thanks for that Shane, I'm pretty sure that's what it is. I've got a hi-flow cat too and I do ocassionally get a few wisps of black smoke but not when I start her up, only under load sometimes.

Daniel - normal. You car is running rich like the erst of the TT's out there. Get a SAFC and Dyno tune and it will reduce it. Otherwise, don't give it such a boot full.
With the prices these days I see very little value in importing a car that you haven't seen, touched or driven. I highly recommend buying locally after inspecting and test driving. Read up here and se what you need to look for. You may find a few members cars here have been quite well maintained and fixes done properly.
Cool, thanks mike! Yeah, I thought I shouldn't worry about it... Will leaning the stuff with SAFC change the performance in any way? Or is it just gonna be cosmetic (as in not dirty hehe)

It will definitely improve performance Daniel, somewhere in the vicinity of an extra 10-15rkw I think? Can anyone confirm this, or give a more accurate figure please?

I probably got you worrying about Soarers having problems after my post. They're a Toyota - they just keep going. And when I said my car had problems - the TV didn't work. It cost me $1.20 to fix.
The advantage of starting it cold I suppose comes down to engine compression. A worn cold engine will usually be harder to start than a worn warm engine. I haven't heard of any Soarers with compression issues though. Other than that there's not a great deal else that I can think of... I'm sure there are other advantages

Charlie if you are anything like me you'll check these Soarers out and in the end there comes a time when you just have to have one there just fabulous
