| I was always under the impression that the v8 and tt soarer's were classified as high powered vehicles in VIC. Consequently, p plate drivers were not allowed to drive these vehicles. After perusing the web, I don't think this is the case. Providing the cars aren't modified, the power to weight ratio doesn't exceed 135kw per ton. Keeping in mind the law is different for p plate drivers who obtained their license after July 1 2007, am I correct in saying this? |

| But the rule is 125kw/tonne not 135?? That's for people who already had their Ps. That would make the V8 legal but the TT just illegal I think. Got your Ps after 1 July 07? Both are illegal. Interestingly the Aurion would have been illegal under the old system (127 - 130 kw/t depending on trim), but is now legal for both pre and post 1/7/07 P platers. |

| Mile's is right, its 125kw/tonne. Therefore only TT are illegal before 1/7/07. |

| Apologies. I misread it and it is 125kw/tonne. Cheers for the help though folks. |

| How long does the P Plater license system work over your way? Its quite different here In NZ, anyone can own anything which is quite scary to say the least, especially when alot of people have little driving experience from their recent previous country of origin where high performance vehicles are a rarity and in most cases they dont even use cars on a day to day basis!

| Alan They are apparently getting keen to crack down on it again, because the penalty has been changed from $100/0 points to $1000/3 points I think. |

| Funny, because a learner can drive your beast under your supervision, then the day they get their probationary licence it's suddenly illegal, regardless of supervision or none. |

| Oh and another point - Soarers are high powered, yet you can ride a Honda CBR250RR or an Aprilia RS250 when you're 17 and 9 months, and those things have ridiculous power to weight ratios. What's more, 90% of the kids buying these things have had screw all to do with bikes. When I got my bike L's I had the sense to get something a little more toned-down, even though my old man had me riding 900cc Fireblades and 1000cc V-twin thumpers when I was 15. I opted for a Yamaha Zeal - outhandled anything but didn't have the same 0-60 figures as other 250 sports bikes on the market. Just what you need - to be dead before your 18th birthday. |

| Personally i think p-platers should be happy that these restrictions are there, but then its not going to stop them driving like knobs in any car i suppose. |

| True Justin - 5 cars were impounded over the weekend here in Bendigo, Vic. None of them were Soarers! All dickheads in Commodores doing "sideways action" on the wet roads. |

| There are plenty of dick heads who drive Soarers; dont be fooled. And someone please correct me if im wrong, but what sort of ratio of accidents to riders do high powered bikes have compared to high powered cars? I'm all for limiting learner and probationary drivers. I think the govt. should go a step further however and encourage advanced safe driving courses more. |

| i completely agree callum, advanced safe driving courses should be compulsory. But its never going to stop the wankers showing off and killing themselves. everytime i hear about a p-plater not happy with getting caught by the cops, i have no sympathy, if they've been pulled over its for good reason. |

| If you drive like a dickhead and you get caught its your fault. Theres no one to blame but yourself. The rules are there for a reason. honestly i myself have lost my licence a few times and i have learnt from those experiances. I used to think that i was invincible but now i've matured. So yeah... guess the systems working |

Of course; and its incredibly silly and infuriating for me when i hear comments thrown around in any circle about how people in positions of power should do 'x y and z' to resolve particular issues and expect that there will not be exceptions.... |

If we could isolate the "bogan gene", we would be ok. A sensor in any "higher powered" car that detects the "bogan gene" cuts out. Sort of like a fuel cut, except its a dick head cut! |

| I've been into Centrelink a few too many times for my liking recently, accompanying my girlfriend regarding her injury payout. THE FRIGGIN SCUM IN THERE! I swear there should be a screening process to determine IQ, then de-sex the bastards on the spot. Centrelink would be a much quieter place without all those malnourished screaming brats and 50,000,000 ferals trying to get out of keeping a job seeker diary, and the government would have about a billion dollars left in the budget to spend on education or something else more important than giving people free alcohol and weed. PS. Jeez I sound opinionated. |

But I think most people would agree with you. I've always worked, or ran my own business, never had to deal with centrelink. The government is just a hinderance and a pain in the ass to small businesses. Not to mention all the bludgers around. Look in the sydney papers each day, there are hundreds of jobs EACH DAY, so dont let anyone tell you there is no jobs about.. I agree that more money should go into (public) education, hospitals etc, and not to dope smoking drop-kicks, or politicians pockets. Grrrrr.... end rant! |

Easy excuse for people who don't want to trade in doing whatever you like for waking up at 6am to go to work. If they just tried it for a fortnight, they'll have money practically coming out of their ears, compared to the crap allowance you get from Centrelink. I don't know how I got by all last year without my part time job... $338 a fortnight is such a pittance. I just have to be patient; when I finish Uni the reward will be worth it! |

| i lived on the doll for about 8 months while i was living in country nsw and i know how difficult it is to get by, but when someone tells me they can't find work i've just got to think your just not looking hard enough. i suppose not many bogans can afford to drive a soarer on the doll which is a good thing... at least it keeps the cops targeting vk commodores and xf falcons. i wonder if the doll bludgers even realise there's something wrong when everytime they walk into centrelink to hand in their form they know everyone there by their first name... hahaha |

I agree 10000% Glen, when I went up there the other week, I was working by the main street in a door way and this blue magna wagon and a black VR/S SS with a baby in the back seat were doing laps around the main street for about 2 hours... Such bogans! I wasn't in my Soarer though, didn't see one import the whole time though, nothing but commodores. |
