Just about to have the 100,000 klm service (timing belt ectra) i also need to get the rear disk rotors done. Are there any mods that can be done during the service or performance parts?. Keep n mind we just bought this car so mods that don't cost an arm and a leg would be great, could you also put a guestamet of the costs for the mods.

Tanks for your help

Adam, nothing much I can think of, though possibly fit TT brakes all round for more stopping power.

If you do that, also add some Malkin braided steel brake lines.

add the brake lines regardless, they are a great upgrade on their own.

apart from a BFI, upgrades on the 8 get fairly expensive..maybe an exhaust/extractors? what sort of $$$ yo got to play with?

Add fitting cost, including the need to move and possibly replace your cats.

Don't forget that Lexus list the service interval on the timing belt at 100,000 MILES (160,000 km's) - but I guess for peace of mind might as well get it done.

I've got my 100,000km service done at S+LC and the mechanic told me the timing belt dont need to change until 160,000km too...

Also he checked the belt and still in good condition..

We've been here before.
The early 91 - 95 Soarers are 100k cambelt change intervals, while the 95 on ones ARE 160k change intervals, due to the fact that Toyota changed to a high Nitrile composition belt.
I would imagine that ALL replacement belts are the latter type.

Even IF your belt snaps in operation, it's no biggy,as the pre 95 V8's are a NON-interferance design, meaning that you won't trash the valves / pistons etc.
Whereas the post 95's have a higher compression ratio (10.5:1) which is achieved by domed pistons, and they WILL go bendy, bendy, smash, tinkle if the belt snaps.

Thanks Don - my old V8 had been done before I got it (at 138,000 according to the sticker) - I went to have it done again when I hit 240,000 (and the water pump sprung a leak) - but the guys said it looked fine, and I'd just spent 3K on wheels and tyres, so I found out about the SC400 service interval and decided to leave it - it must have been the high nitrile one as you say.

Where does that place me with my 3.0? I was budgeting on replacing the cam belt at 100,000 anyway, which is only 13,000 away now...
