| Bear with me here... I have a little back history first... My favourite band is Hilltop Hoods. Not that I'm a huge fan of aussie hip-hop, but I do think they do very well putting tracks together. So with this in mind, when their second latest album came out, I made sure to have the $30 sat aside to go and get it. On the day the album came out, I left work early (I was really keen to get a copy). By the time I got home from my local WoW Sight and Sound, I was carrying my beloved Hilltop Hoods - The Hard Road album, a Brand spankers new Xbox 360 with a spare controller, 2 headsets, 12months live subscription, and 4 games. A $30 CD turned out to be (if i recall correctly) a $1200 or so purchase. And to top it off, I went straight home, hooked up the 360, was sick from work for the next 3 days and forgot to even unwrap my hoodies cd. This brings me to today... driving home from work, and with a heavy foot, my car decided it had a LOT more throttle than normal till the PC decided it was not having any more of this and cut almost - if not all - power to the engine. So In the rain, I got out, inspected the engine. Yep, it was still there. I could hear a loud hissing noise. I found that the wastegate hose on my rear turbo (99% stock 91 1jz) had a crack. I drove to my local autobarn using the minimum of throttle. After going up the "Performance" counter for not more than maybe $15 worth of hose, I left with a manual boost controller, PSI guage, brass fittings and a bucket load of other shizzle for my turbos equating to around the $500 mark. This leads me to the question, does anyone else have this same compulsive problem as myself? I've done the same with home theatre, PC's, furniture, whitegoods, booze and women. |

| Well, I've just put the boost controller and all the shizzle in and test driven, tweaked, tested, tweaked, over and over about 10 times. now i'm running max boost of 14psi and while working, fixed a boost leak that I found after removing and thoroughly cleaning my intercooler and pipes. Being in brissie with wet roads, I have been careful to not get too sideways ;) Entering the highway opposite the big IKEA store, I was at about 2/3 throttle in second. Looked at the boost guage, then at the speedo (in Drive by now at about 120), gave it a bit more throttle "knowing" that it would not let loose and then god-almighty-himself stepped in and gave my backend a shove to the left. Held on, but only just. I was really wide out there - only pulled it straight with about 40 or 50m left in my lane before I had to merger right. I Love Boost controllers. I swear, if you have a TT soarer and havent put one on yet - GOD DAMN DO IT!!! |

| I used to buy loads of crap. Then i got divorced so now i only buy things I need. You see the thing about a capitalist economy is that it needs suckers like you (i say this in jest) to keep buying stuff as the economy is geared toward future returns. This is where inflation comes from. If i don't buy stuff that is high quality, lasts or is not an appreciating asset I tend to have perpetual buyers remorse. |

Impulsively buying women is not recommended Buying women usually takes thoughtful introspection if a beneficial purchase is hoped for |

| I once went to Mitre 10 with the specific purpose of buying an assorted nuts and bolts tub on special for $10. They were sold out (at 0835!) so I bought a wood lathe instead. The lathe sat behind the outside couch for a couple of months until I figured out what I could use it for. I then had to go and buy the chisels etc to make it work. and a new wet and dry bench grinder to sharpen the chisels. and 7m of 2x4 and a sheet of ply for a new work bench. And then I really got distracted when I moved the Rx-7 out to start work, and went and saw Dave Cheetam about a noise and bought a $1000 LSD. Yes, I have your problem. I just don't reckon its a sin. |

| recently bought my fiancee a wii for her birthday and the tv didnt support it well enough (for me anyway - it would suit just fine for the other 99.9999999% of the population) so a $800 wii (with games, controller etc) turned into a wii and $5k LCD!! I suck so much at money. lucky I get the hourly rate and overtime to support my habits. - Best 'habit' line i heard was in TV show House. "Yes, I admit I have an addiction, but it's not hurting myself or anyone else and I can afford it - So, why stop?" |

| Russell, compulsive buying is like compulsive masturbation. Ultimately satisfaction is replaced with pain. Or so I'm told. |

I have also read that masturbation is good in the beginning, ultimately you realise you are only fkcuing yourself. |

| Masturbation being painful? I god damn well hope it won't get that way later in life! So, if I were to read into this thread 'a little too much', I have one dude calling me a sucker for capaitalist economy or something. Another dude thinks I'm out there buying women and making poor jokes about it and lastly, A dude says that cos I more-often-than-not comoulsivly buy, I'm a compulsive wanker that will end up hurting my own willie!! maybe, just maybe, i'm reading into it too much..... p.s. Anyone from south-east queensland should check the QLD Event Days topic. There is a thread there about a cruise on the 27th this month. I'll be going. |

It's hard to buy stuff over the net without a credit card of some sort. There are many non-traditional forms of CC type cards/accounts these days though which you can use to stay away from actually using credit. |

| Russell, have a look at either nengun.com or greenline.jp .. two of the best places to get parts online. I picked up those parts from Greenline as they worked out a bit cheaper. To put it into perspective, I paid about $570 for the E-Manage when I've seen them going from anywhere up to $1000 at other places. The injectors were also on special at Greenline so that sorta sealed the purchase (approx $85 each). All up I paid about $1800 for those parts including a Blitz blow off valve bolt on kit including shipping. |

| I was a little compulsive when I owned my soarer. However I'd tend to surf the for sale section on this site and snipe buy via pm. I then sold my soarer, moved to the PC (brought about 15 HD's + 2 computers to build a media center and storage PC). I've now moved onto renovations of my unit were I visit bunnings/Ikea a lot and do a bit of compulsive buying. My girlfriend has to constantly pull me out of the power/tools section. |
