| Just bought a 96 UZZ31. End price was $8500, and am pretty happy with it. One problem is when you brake it feels like they are clamping tightly then loosely with sort of a jumpy feel? Not sure if i've described it well but don't think it will be too serious? Will be fixed before i pick it up. Does anyone have an idea on what that could be? Also, what are the differences between older and later models? I know it has a different transmission but how is it different? Will post some picks when it's in my driveway. Cheers |

| the brakes could be the ABS module getting in on the act too early ? just a guess. Jason. |

| i would think a new ABS module (if that's what it is) would not be cheap... maybe it just needs servicing ? or adjusting ? Jason |

| get your head under the dash and look at where the shaft from the brake pedal goes into the rubber boot of the master cylinder. and if its damp/ leaking brake fluid you will be up for another master cylinder. that maybe your problem |

| Wow 8500 is quite reasonable for a 96' V8, What sort of condition is it in? |

| almost perfect, it's got one scratch on the rear bumper. Interior is immaculate, no wear on the drivers seat at all. Just the brake issue is the main thing but she's gonna sort that before i pick it up. |

Hmmm if its got TRC and theres a problem with the master cylinder or more It can be quite costly. |

| Sounds more like warped front Discs/Rotors to me. A skim & a fresh set of pads will do wonders |

| Yeah on my car it's the same thing with the braking at the moment. And i know it is warped rotors. Jack up front wheels and spin them, if they grab at a point or you hear a scrape then they are warped, just as mine are. |

| yeah, just spoke to my mechanic and he's almost positive it's warped rotors so hopefully her mechanic can suss that out tomorrow and i'll pick it up on the wkend.... Mark, bought it from a lady in Melbourne so hopefully it's been well looked after. Only other problem is either the remote central locking doesn't work or it doesn't have it. I thought RCL was standard, but that's not too big of a problem. Anyone know what it costs to have the feature put in? |

Heheh i was just being a troll! ;) <3 Warped rotors will still work properly. If they are causing your transmission/steering wheel to vibrate too much however it will slowly cause domino problems on other things (mounts etc) |

| thanks, once again everyone's been very helpful. Callum, steering wheel doesn't shake nor does anything else, only notice anything when braking normally so hopefully nothing else has been affected. Cheers |

Thats a good sign =P The worse the warping gets the more you will feel the front rotors through the steering wheel and see the rear rotors through the movement of your drive selector for the transmission (only when braking). |

Either flat button-cell battery in the remote, or the master switch on the dash is switched off...........or something else is rooted. The 96's have remote central locking as standard. ps; When you get the car Sean, post up the chassis number, as in: UZZ31-******* and I can tell ewes what month it was made and other random stuff!
