I have seen those, they're quite exxy I actually talked to a guy who'd bought a set of the taillights. Like many things Americans do they seem to have more money than sense. Considering the lights are modified Toyota/Lexus products, and LEDs aren't expensive, the couple of grand seems an awful lot for some labour to poke the LEDS in.
The high beams look nice though, and are "only" around the USD400 mark, feasible if replacing smashed items perhaps. I don't know what difference a few LEDS would make to high beam though.

If someone has an old split tail lamp then why don't we have a PCB made up to fit with the LEDs. A PCB for that size would be about $25 + a crap load of clear Leds. Or lets get fancy, pop a pic on there and use some tri color units and have the ability to have any color you want from Black ! to bright white and anywhere in between. Single wire bus, multiplexed leds, If I ever smash my tail lamp I will do them as I know they can be built cheep. The Exe part is the cluster itself. I persume that they can be split with relative ease ? so people can use their old plastics and just fit a single board and plug it all back to gether.
Someone send me a pair of broken clusters and I shall have a board made. The Bright white leds are cheep as if you buy them in the 1000's. $3 from jaycar is way over the top. I also want to make a scrolling rear brake lamp unit useing SMD leds so that you can actually display text as you brake ! But I think of these things and then the weekend comes and then I forget what I was thinking.

I would still like one of you electronic Guru's to come up with a way of having sequential rear indicators on the rear clusters on 91 - 94 models, ala 64 - 66 Ford Thunderbirds.
As in, put your blinker on, and the innermost bulb lights 1st, followed by the 2nd & third, repeated, with, say,1/2 second timing between the bulbs.
The Thunderbirds had a motor with brush contacts, which although quite "Bling" in it's day is rather quaint by today's standards.

Don, our local rubbish trucks have those lights on the rear. Some of our companies fuel tankers run the same thing on the rears. I will see if I can find out how they work.
