Anybody watch Midsomer Murders last night. The car that the woman was driving looked like it was a Lexus 430 convertible. It looked so sweet. Any idea of cost and anyone know if there are any in Aus.

The depreciation rates are pretty normal. Adding those prices to 2nd hand data for our cars, there is a clear bend in the price curve such that our cars are below it, especially for later models. This is to be expected simply owing to the fact that our cars are grey imports, not [officially] supported by Toyota Australia. Had our cars been imported by Toyota I would expect them to lie on the same line as the SC430. Put another way, we own six to fourteen year-old versions of $160K cars. Does that make you feel better about it? .
By chance, half an hour ago I saw an SC430 on the road near here, for pretty much the first time. Red, it was. Two minutes before that a silver-grey IS250 went by, probably on a test drive as it was on the typical route from the local dealer and their test car is that colour.

those prices are obscene.... An 04 SC430 in the States was around $52K new
Ever heard of Australia's 45% Luxury Car Tax, on top of import duty?
That is another factor of course; we do not pay that duty on our cheap grey imports, which is one reason the government and distributors do not like them. Notice how much cheaper these cars are in NZ.

Try taking a car to Malaysia- 300% Import Duty on 3 litre engines and over. Supposedly to protect Proton and some of the others who make cars there (like Citroen). No such thing as a "level playing field".
