hey guys,
i have been having some very bad thoughts of late. might have to sell my soarer.
the problem is that i have just moved to sydney (on the beach having to park on the street)and im worried of three different things...
1. that someone will steal it. ive already cought one guy trying to brake in the other morning. lucky i was up at 5am getting ready for work and heard the alarm.
2.someone may run into it and just drive off. apparently this is common in sydney and my girlfriend has seen it happen. so this and the many other stories ive heard about it scares me.
3. and last but most important, just after 4 days of washing it the salt and what not on the paint is so thick if feels like sand paper.

so my question is what can i do??? moving is not an option. but i dont wonna sell the boat (soarer)

how long will it take before the paint will start to suffer?

i love my car, dont wonna resort to selling it and buying some heapa if i dont have to.

and help or past experiences would be great
cheers

nick

My thoughts exactly, Alan.

1. you won't get anything for it these days (certainly not what they are worth, especially in Sydney).

2. Paint will start to go off, just get it resprayed every few years.

3. Soarers don't seem to rust anyway so it's one of the best choices for a coastal car.

4. Rent a garage and get it insured.

sorry just woke up.bit slow.... wont get anything for car??

car is insured. so my major concern is paint damage.... as my brother said, if i try and sell it in a year, so one will take a car that has sat on a beach for that long.

wish i could move. but just signed 1 year lease and house is in too good a spot to move.. really close to both mine and my girl friends work

Dude im sure your not the only person in Australia with a car, that leaves near the ocean.

Big deal ... if you were driving a prestige car, yeah you'd have concerns about the paint. But its only a Soarer, worse comes to owrse just respray it every 2-3 years if you intend to keep it that long.

And stealing is stealing, the risk is about the same anywhere in the big cities.

Yeah it would be great to have a garage to store it, but I mean yours isnt the only car around on the street.

Just relax and wash it regularly. If you replaced it, what would you get?

Something not too expensive to buy, fun to drive, galvanised body to resist rust - sounds like a Soarer to me :-)

yeah. my alarm isnt too bad. and it is parked right under my bedroom window. and its fully insured as well. so stolen isnt my biggest concern. yeah i pay 1700 a year. through just cars.

well if urs has been ok for that amount of time. i dont see why mine wouldnt be. wash once a week. maybe respray in a few years.

You could get one of those anti theft devices like in Naked Gun 33 1/3.. where the big claw grabs the guy's balls.
