My brother inlaw is looking at selling his soarer. Just wondering if anyone might know of where to advertise it, or may be interested in it themselves. It is the model before the xx30 series and has the following... carbon bonnet & boot, fibreglass front & rear fenders, respray and a full roll cage. Sitting in his folks shed awaiting installation is... racing mags, nos kit, manual box, carbon race seat, coilovers, a stock 1j and a 1j with a $50k rebuild to quite happily handle 45 pounds and has dynoed over 1000hp at the fly. Was intended to be a competition drifter, but my sister has conned him into buying a house instead (why don't girls just let us have some fun?!?). Anyway, he's chasing mid $20k's for it in it's current state. Not too sure what he'd want if he finished building it. That's all the info I have atm, I'm going out to see it on saturday to get more info and some pics.
So if you know of where we could advertise a car like that, or may be interested yourself, let me know.

Hmmm, we thought that would be a reasonable price. Keep in mind that this is a designated race car, there is no way in hell that it'd ever be registerable anywhere in oz (to my knowledge anyway). So, keeping in mind that this is for a serious racer, not the odd track day driver and that it would quite easily pull a 10s (or less?!? it weighs bugger all) pass, where would be a good place to advertise it, are there any race car forums about that we don't know about?

The only thing I can think of is in the 'Unique Cars' magazine. Or even try contacting Ignition DVD/Magazine, see if they will add it to their next release - as it is a highly modified import...
You could also try contacting different race venues in your state and ask if they can suggest any advertisers. They would have to know who the promoters of events are, who might know who would be interested in purchasing. A bit a running around on the phones, but well worth it to get the $$$ that your after.

Lol.. competition drifter with 1000hp What kind of drifting? The 6th gear, 250kph+, sideways down sandown straight style?
hehe
Probably not worth the money, you'll have to put alot of time and effort into preparing an old car like that for serious power. Unless its all done for you, awaiting a transplant?
I mean, diff/driveline, trans, suspension (everything apart from coilovers!!, brakes, mounts etc etc

Cheers for your advice Tamatha. As for the rest, it is all done, it has all the upgraded parts necessary for it to run and the engine with custom box, they just need to be bolted to the car!
As I said, I'm after advice on where to advertise such a car. I'm not here to debate your opinions on what it's worth, but I have seen a 1600hp torana (dedicated drag car) sell for close $90,000, hence why we thought 20's would be a more than fair starting point.
This is the competition Todd had in mind when he started to build the car...
and from the cars that he has built in the past, I have no doubt that it would give it a bit of competion.
Anyway, I'll stop raving now, as I said I'm not trying to sell it here, I just wanted to be pointed in the right direction. If anyone's interested in the general build side of things (like if you want some advice for your own car) drop me an email and I'll point you in his direction.
