For those that dont know, i was rear ended by some tool on princess hwy when i was stationary at red lights.. Luckily for him(and me) he had insurance and the car is being repaired properly by the best panel beater i could find local to me.

I was stationary at the lights at about 10 past 12 in the morning on my way home. I have a habbit of looking in my mirror on the off occasion so i did. I saw a car approaching fast, thinking he wont be able to stop i let go of the brake and turned the wheel to the right.
Right that instant i heard tyre screech and he obviously collided. The car jolted forward at the speedo showed about 10kph.. I hit the brakes, got out the car and check the back.
Hardly any damage. The bumper was cracked, but the tail lights were in perfect condition, as was the boot lid etc.
The other driver looked dazzed and drove off.. I got his number plate and went straight to the police. The police chased him up and gladly he had insurance. He was probably drunk at the time. I also found out later that he wasnt wearing a seat belt and he had actually smacked his head against the front windscreen, leaving a impression of it there.
3 weeks later he paid his excess and they began work.
Its a bitch to get hit by someone with 3rd party. And insurance companies are the most rediculous, inhumane, morally and ethically corrupted organisations on the face of the planet. They do absolutely nothing unless you make them.
that is some harsh stuff man. i hate it when people just drive off when they cause an accident. lucky you got his details and stuff to get the accident fixed.
yea mate you are lucky you got details out of it..
my messed up rear quarter is 2 instances of hit and drive off...ive stopped countin scrathes and all that also caused by others...almost into double digits!

Daniel, sad to hear that mate. It is extremely disappointing that people can just leave someone stranded like that. Whats even more rediculous are those with no isurance at all that pull shit like this and dont pay for damages.
Peter, i've got pics of it before the accident lol. Other wise, i only took two quick snaps with my phone when i was there.

Looks like they're doing a nice repair job. Must be hanging to get it back. Is it usual for a rear end repair like that to take 5 weeks or more? Or was 3-4 weeks of that spent getting quotes and other crap for the insurance company etc...?

My Soarer's the only car I have. I always freak out a little when I think..."what if I'm in an accident. what will I drive?" 5 weeks is a long time dude! Someone ran into my 2nd last car, a Celica. One week later, left hand door and rear 1/4 panel replaced, and completed. I guess it's a little different with local cars. Either that or they don't realll care much for those who drive imports.

Thats how it is sam. I drive carefully, but in this case it was just about being in the wrong place at the wrong time. It not that they dont care, as i said dominic is taking good care of the car, but he can only get his team working as fast as parts are supplied.
