Okay I have been going crazy trying to obtain a Pearl White front bumper for my 92 TT. So far I have found some good deals for purchasing the bar (both here and at the wreckers). However all the ones I have found have been every other colour but the white I need, and all the wreckers ones are damaged in one way or another.
I got a quote from someone, and they advised that to respray the bumper in the Pearl White, and to subsequently match it is going to cost me around the $350. So looking roughly in the viscinity of $700-$900 if I got it delivered interstate (taking into account postage).
So with almost all hope gone I called my insurance company up and asked them what the deal is. Not suprisingly, I would have to pay the $200 excess and get a quote and fix job done. The surprising part is that I would not lose my "protection bonus" nor would it affect my premium and excess and wouldn't remove my 60%.
So now I have to figure out how I can get a front bumper with insurance paying it, but while I'm there I may as well get a 97 bar. The legit way I guess would be for the auto repairer to obtain a front bar from the wreckers and fix it up or alternatively buy a brand spanker from Toyota themselves. If this is the case, I should refer them to the Castlehill to get a 96 bumper (as they all cost the same anyway).
Has anyone gone through this, and if so was it easy to upgrade the year of your bumper at that point?

Sounds like a good excuse for something aftermarket ;)
$320 to have it sprayed sounds reasonable; i have quite a bit of damage to the left side of my front bar at the moment i need repairing. I was quoted $600 all up to fix a large split, a large crack, sand back + patch lots of other cracks and damaged areas, fix all the stone chips and other dodgy blemishes, and then an entire respray too! I was quite happy with that price, without even shopping around ;D
This guy did panel and bumper work on my previous car (ED Falcon) before i sold it, and he did a good job in my opinion. If you are after quotes still id be happy to pass on the details.
Although none of that really answers your questions =P
Have you got any desires in the future for some sort of kit? Perhaps your insurance company would be willing to let you pay the difference for getting an after market front bar or something.

Callum I have had desires to do a kit when I first got the car, but with me trying to save up for a house a kit is one of those things that will probably wait for a very long time. If anything the kit would have been based off the 97 front bar anyway with an aftermarket lip, and only myself having to worry about the sides and rear.
Hmmm so the price was reasonable then. Mind you, my current bumper has a broken support brace (looking from the front, the left bar that seperates the middle intake from the right intake), plus also a number of cracks with the original rubber peeling and warped, plus an angled dent in the centre (can only see from certain angles) hence the reason for the new bar.

Thanks for the offer, but I have to keep within their preferred repairers list to satisfy them.

Daniel, the $350 is just for the respray on the front bumper itself. This does not cover any repair work or anything else for that matter.
Not too fussed with the two fog lamps or grill for now, as those can be items purchased when required and when I can afford the things. Will have to build up that side of it slowly (unless I can use part of my tax return for it).

Well I got the word back from my insurance company yesterday, my Claim has been approved. The actual claim went through for a 96 bumper which has now been ordered by my repairer. They are just waiting for it to arrive from Toyota. Therefore I should have a 96 (late) bumper on the front of my car in the next couple of weeks. Wahoo!!!!
Oh cool, yeah that's who I got quotes from yesterday, they priced it up pretty well for me I think. How much are you paying if you dun mind me asking? They quoted me something under 900 bux for full comprehensive, but I think they gave me a discount coz I asked them to package it up with building and home and contents insurance. My excess is 300 bux too. My old insurance, which will run out in 4 days is with Just Car and they still would charge me $1060 with a $1100 excess. Stuff that. I think I'll go for new bumpers in the next few weeks too woohoo!!!

Daniel, I'm paying about the same I think for comprehensive. I should probably check if I am getting my discount as I have contents insurance as well. The car has an agreed value of $15000 so it's never gonna drop. Excess is $200.
