I have searched for an answer and nothing answers this one! Hi maybe you guys (girls) can help, I have no hot air, when I turn the heating to hot, on comes the fan and savagely blows cold air, switch on aircon and now freezing cold air even when on hot! When I turn off the aircon the car will not idle - making driving in town a misery as it keeps stalling. I do get an occasional trickling sound when driving, but there are no leaks. The temp gauge reads normal so no overheating. I have checked the vsv valve and it opens and shuts when I switch from hot to cold. So could it be an airlock, if so how do I sort it on a TT, it seems easy on a v8, my wife and daughter refuse to go with me until I sort it (is that a bad or good thing! ) please guys, I really need some help on this one!

Cant find any info out there about that, but does anyone know, - the vacuum is moving open and shut when I switch from hot to cold, but the actual black "rubber" cylinder attached to the solenoid does not move, is it supposed to? How do I bleed the matrix?? I have found out how to do it on a V8 but a TT nope???

Not that, just remote diagnosing/fixing is very difficult.
If you are convinced that hot water is flowing through the heater, then that would only leave a stuck vent flap not allowing air to go through the heater.

Thanks Peter, yes the water coming out is red hot and under pressure - now how would I go about finding that troublesome flap sounds like it could be an answer?

I took my car for a service and coolant change, and I drove home without a heater! Checked all the pipes from the radiator to and from the heater thingy on the fire wall (all hot) when I got home, so am guessing it may be the elusive vent flap...
Is the flap under the dash somewhere? I'm sure there is a nice guy out there that would like to advise a mature blonde woman!
If hot water is flowing through the heater core it is either the motor for the mixer flap faulty, linkage faulty, or a faulty climate control unit or any of the wires leading to that motor for that flap.

The comment made by Peter Nitschke about a flap not opening is correct. I had this on my uzz31. The vsv worked and hot water flowed thru the heater matrix BUT because the flap did not open there was no hot air. The flap is operated by a small electric servo motor. There are in fact 3 servo's for opening and directing air. If you look at the pictures on www.toyodiy.com you can work it out. It is possible to change the servo motor without removing the whole aircon unit but it is very time consuming and frustrating. I had a spare servo but I would be suprised if you cannot find another toyota with the same part. good luck Steve
