Since the begining of time our Forum has always had the TT vs V8 banter, and those of us who are Mature enough to enjoy it, and cop the slag as much as it is given, do so with great enjoyment and enthusiasm. Yeah everyone knows V8's have superior torque characteristics compared to the TT. That's why a 150 rwkW V8 is as fast as a 240 rwkW TT for god's sake. The hairdryer TTs have no torque, then it all arrives in a big rush. It's a goddamn variable torque engine! No wonder so many kids have accidents in them! You plant the throttle in the TT, get nothing, then suddenly the wheels are spinning ! - excellent! On the dyno with full throttle and full load the TT has great torque - but on the road it's a different story!! Gutless, then whoosh. On, off, off, on - the torque is all over the place. I guess that's all you can expect with a small peaky motor. I mean the torque delivery of a TT is terrible. On the track you gotta wind down the boost! Crazy stuff. You'd think the big power TT high boost would be great on a circuit but it's safer to wind it down to more manageable levels. You don't see any V8 Supercars reducing power to make the car safer. God no! If high powered TT's are so fast, so magnificent then the V8s must be the holy grail!! I mean at Phillip Island and Mallala circuits the low powered V8's are faster than the big ticket TTs !!! Fact !!
If you want to go fast get a V8. V8s are faster than TT's and have been for years. TT's are great for full throttle rush - but throttle control around a track kiss the V8 big butt good bye !!!
I mean I love TT's I really do - some of my favourite people drive them honest. But for the power they are so god awful SLOW !!! I mean I would hate to see a 150 rwkW TT on the circuit with a 150 rwkW V8 - The TT would get lapped by the V8 very soon! The TT's need their peaky top end rush just to keep the V8's in sight!!!
A 150 rwkW V8 is able to beat high power TT's on the track because of one thing - Superior Torque characteristics !!
Me and Juzza love TT's - as long as they get outta the way on the track. We see them babying the car around hoping to hell they don't lose the back end in a TT turbos sudden boost.
On the track the V8 guys want every once of power because we can use every ounce. The TT guys, well, they have dyno day boost settings and then they wind it back because they can't use every ounce of power. TT peaky power is useless power whereas V8 power is real world power.
Yeah baby V8's rule and dominate the TTs !!!

Roger how was that then? Is that the sort of stuff your talking about?

If I had a choice in car's I would camp my skinny white arse in Manny's.
Lets see. Nearly all of the options my car has plus double the power and probably better fuel consumption. Who cares about the active suspension when the Tein's with EDFC do a bloody good job at keeping the car on the road.
Nice to see Roger in this foray! It seems that there are no good drivers that go to the island in a TT......except of course young James Johnson...but he is still on learner driver plates, just turned 17 i think. How far behind the almighty powerful Juzza is he again, ( i don't follow the island info to closely)? All credit to Juzza for being champ! Driver skill it must be becasue the poor bugger doesn't have teins, nor active suspension, just slow reflexes in braking. heheheh
after having been in Mannys Car over a year ago in a tight track like wakefield lapping every car that was on the track and a big cube holden hsv clubsport i dont think any of thje v8 drivers claim is correct.
so all you V8 driving keyboard racers can keep crying all you want.TT`s rule period.
and anyone that doesnt like a bit of a joke on here ...well tuff been like this all along..
Well don't tell anyone but sometimes when it's dark and me and Juzza are a bit tanked with a belly fully of spagetti, we say quietly over a ruffino that if we had a TT at the track then we would be faster again! But we deny it! Craig Dean was really fast in that VVti manual turbo Soarer around the island - 1:50's was it? I forget. I reckon the key to circuit speed is getting real comfy in your own car and knowing what it can and can't do. And Craig Dean in a VVti twin turbo Supra - Whoaa - that's real fast. Craig Dean in a supercharged UZZ31 was not so fast - he wasn't comfy at all in it. Really it's the driver that makes someting fast. What's that old saying about Jackie Stewart? Something like Jakie Stewart in a 2CV around Brands Hatch could beat just about anyone. Manny's car is awesome - I drove and I loved it. If I had $45 000 I'd be tempted to get a 1997 odd turbo Supra with VVti, 6 speed, Big Torsen and big brakes etc - all the good stuff factory delivered. I'd prefer a Supra to a R33 GTR. For N/A a manual Boxster would be real nice. One thing that concerns me was that one of my mates at the Porsche club is on his third warranty engine! Sheesh! Maybe that's just unlucky. Porsche have no problems him flogging it at Mallala. The UZZ32 is a bit heavy for circuit work, and way underpowered. It's a super safe car on the road for sure - and it's real easy to drive fast. Driving a UZZ32 fast doesn't knock the stuffing out of you. The chassis can handle the modest V8 power no problems, but it's a bit lethargic. It's a fabulous road car, but obviously not really designed for the rigours of circuit sprinting. It does handle very well. I remember Rob H. saying compared to his TT with Tein coilovers his 32 takes the high speed right hander at the end of Phillip Island straight significantly faster. But when it comes to the crunch if I was going to get a newish car on a salary sacrifice lease, I'd be tempted to get an XR turbo over a V8. Straight six turbo over a V8! But then again the Ford guys with there hot GT V8 BA falcons are going real fast now at the island with 280-300 rwkW - man I'd kill for that much power! 158 rwkW is a joke! So maybe the V8 would be the go. Bloody hell,,,,,
The first Soarer I ever bid on over the internet was a white TT with brown interior!!! It didn't reach reserve and I was left as the last bidder and that was that. Never saw it again. It was with Kadaco? from memory. Then I happened on my grade 4 UZZ32 from Kobe cars and that was that. Funny how little things stick you on another fork in the road.
before my soarer i used to have a mx5..one day i was at a car dealer mate of mine and he had two green soarers that just came in..one tt and one v8.
i had no intention of buying the soarer at the time but he took me for a test drive in the tt ..i was hooked.did a deal and soarer was mine with trade on the mx5 plus a carton of carlton gold...
i did look at the v8 but briefly as it had a noisy engine and was blowing blue smoke on start up..
