Guys ,,,help me out, I know the 3.0ltr would be cheaper than a single turbo. In terms of fuel efficiency how cheap is it?

| Ere ya go Khan......wrap ya eyeballs round this lot..... CAVEAT: I originaly posted this on TIF, hence the Miles per Gallon refferences From the original 1994 Soarer sales brochure: The 3.0 GT will get 8.1 kms per litre on average of town & country driving, with a "Best" consumption of 15.5 kms per litre at a steady 60 kph, or 24 mpg average of town & country driving, with a "Best" consumption of 45 mpg at a steady 37.3 mph!!!!!. Like we all drive our Soarers at a steady 60 kph/ 37.3 mph (Yeah, right!!). Interestingly (Or not!) the GT-L V8 figures (From the brochure) say: 23.44 mpg average of town & country driving, with a "Best" of 41.3 mpg at a steady 37.3 mph HaHa! The UZZ32's figures are 19.9 mpg town & country average, with a best of 36.3 mpg (we wish!!!) So to conclude, I would suggest that a 3.0 GT should be capable of: 34.5 + mpg on the open road. A V8 GT-L should be capable of: 32.37 + mpg on the open road. A UZZ32 should be capable of: 28.1 + mpg on the open road. So idealy you should be getting another 6.4 mpg out of a 3.0 over a V8 "Active" on the open road. I think people automaticaly assume that the 3 litre will be heaps cheaper to run around town in, but the reality is that they're still a heavy car, with a smaller engine, hence there's not a hell of a lot of difference between the 3.0 & the 4.0 in city driving situations. As an aside, the TT automatic gets identical town & country consumption as a 4.0 GT-L @ 23.44 mpg, but gets 48.91 mpg at the "Ideal" steady 37.3 mph. So it's capable of returning: 36.48 mpg on the open road. The TT manual gets 26.08 mpg average of town & country driving, with a "Best" consumption of 49.52 mpg at a steady 37.3 mph. So it's capable of returning 37.49 mpg on the open road, making it the most "Economical" Soarer of the lot, being "Only" 2.5 litres n' all. Also, remember that these figures were when the cars were NEW......NOT 15 years old.

Thanks Don being patient and for the detail response. You are a CHAMP!! I have seen a 1997 silver 3.00 vvti non turbo at $15999 and a 1997 black VVTI single turbo at $20999. I love the single turbo cuz its black (not too keen in turbos). i was not sure about the fuel efficincy. I am gonna test drive em tommorow. lets see what happens.

What a day!! Drove all the soarers today 97 3 ltr non turbo, 97 2.5 vvti single turbo, 95 2.5 twin turbo. vvti feels faster and more refined. Non turbo was fantastic too if i trade off the power. It is simple that means less problem and maintanence in future= less $$$. i am offered $11000 for my V8 as trade in. They are asking My V8+$6500 for 3 ltr and My V8+$10000 for single turbo vvti on the road. what do you think guys, is it reasonable? I am going to see another white 97 single turbo vvti on monday and then i will make my mind.

I'd take $12,000 + your V8 for my 98 VVT-i. Then I'd make yours manual and supercharged

The $11k trade in price IS good from a dealer, it's now down to you which one ya choose, although if buck saving (initialy & ongoing) is your main consideration, then it's hard to go past the 3.0liter

I agree with you Don. $$$ is important though its hard to trade off the power. 3 ltr would serve my purpose now a days.

Obvious respray and the engines come out, renewed toptank. Indicates to be that its over 140,000kms easy. The engine fan shroud looks like its been replaced. Also looks like there's a few non-factory clamps. Thats all i can tell without seeing the car. How much? how many kays do they say? There are much better ones out there...

Isn't someone in this forum selling that ??? Looks pretty nice to me. How exactly is the respray obvious ??? You must be a damn good (and qualified) spray painter to be able to tell that from looking at those pictures.

The top tank could have been sprayed, check the sides of it, they are still black. Maybe the previous owner was a ricer boy.
