How hard is it to do the tint? Did you do it yourself or did you give it to the tint guys and they just charged you labour? How much do youy want for it?

oh yeah... it is thoroughly illegal... there is no way in hell that they will pass it if they take their time to look at the tint aspect of the car... my advice is to have a heap of gauges bald tyres and do burnouts to distract them from the tint
I had 20% mirror tint on my Soarer; it was very reflective but on bright days you could *just* see through it.
One day while driving i was pulled over and had the car checked over for defects. Despite having to cup his hands around his eyes to see inside my car the cop didnt even mention the tint - he was more interested in why my backseat base was missing (had been working on the TV tuner mod!)

Arnt you allowed to have really dark tint though if your cars a certain age. Im not sure but i think it was something like 93 or 92 models and older can have dark tint. I heard it somewhere. Does anyone know anything about it
I believe it might be August 1994 (could be wrong). The current laws (35% light emission) came into effect on that month; prior to that it wasnt regulated. There was just a rule that it couldnt be dark enough to obstruct the driver's view or something like that
The 'loophole' was that if your car was tinted before that, you couldnt be defected for the tint (unless it was ridiculously dark). So if you owned a pre-94 car you could say it was tinted back then before the rule came in.
That loophole is getting to be a bit of a stretch though since thats 11 years ago, and mirror tints etc werent around back then. And since imports have to pass a roadworthy test you could only try it if your car was imported before 1994!
