Hi all

at the Mini Jam event in qld on saturday we re set the national record from 10.8 held by lee docherty to 10.004 et and also reset the MPH record from 136 by matt legrands supra up 10 mph to 146 mph.

we top qualified and also won the Sport RWD class. it was a big weekend with 3 qualifiers and 7 rounds of eliminations.

massive thanks to Justin Gregory my crew chief and Ewan Hanley and Roy Crichton my crew members for the ongoing support.

the car consistantly 1.86 sixty footed, with a new convertor to help with the slip in third and a bit more gas off the line i am confident there is a 9.8 in it. and then we will keep winding the boost into it.

a full report with photos and incar video will be up on
www.1jz747.com.au late in the week

cheers

shane:-)

Wow Shane Congrats mate!

I thought your car would 60 foot a bit faster than that though ( no offence) as i 60'ed 1.81 with standard stally and suspension on MT et Streets! Or did you mean the setup was running consistent 1.86 60 footers for the weekend with more to come? ( im assuming the later)

I guess you will sort it out with some more boost and the new stally and all:-)

Congrats again! You will be the 1st to run a 9 second pass and keep setting the bar higher! Awsome work mate! You hang the 1JZ flag VERY high for us all:-)

Best of luck on that 9:-)

Pretty sure this is a 1.5jz now, but that said that is amazing in a full chassis car weighing what is does. Cant wait to see these times lower.

Your website says you run a GT51R, but that is NOT a GT51R. A GT51R is a 76mm inducer capable of around 1000whp. AT 28psi, you would be around 800whp.

By your HP numbers and pictures, that turbo is maybe a GT35R.

Good Job none the less!

American Dynos are way different than Aussie ones.....

500rwhp is like punishing 750-800 in your figures.

Also, the bigger the stall convertor, the more slip in it so the lower the HP figure too.

that was the info the 1jzgte we took out at christmas time, it was a GT51R it had a 71mm front wheel as per the garret factory specs as purchased from GCG in condell park. a 35r has a 0.70 front cover, if you look at the photo it has stamped on the front cover 0.72 as per GT51R specs.

it went 10.1et 137mph at 35 psi.

at christmas yes we changed to the 1.5j and a garrett GT42r with 74mm front wheel.

as for sixty foots, the car used to sixty foot in the low 1.6's and high 1.5's with the old setup. with some mroe fine tuning we will get back to that.

keep in mind this package has only completed 13 passes. first pass was a 10.00 at 139.99 mph. every package takes some sorting. we still have a pocket full of boost left to wind up, so this is the starting point, and i cant tell you guys enough how bloody impressed iam to be running these times with such little boost and gas on board.

better times and mph are yet to come with more testing.

Any plans to come up to the Benaraby Raceway at Gladstone in the future? Be great to see the beast run.You should be able to smash 10 secs by after you get everything sorted. Great stuff.

Bloody great result Shane.
So, big debate (joking) - was the original 1JZ stock after all?

Are you going to do head work, cams, intake manifold etc with the 1.5J? Would have been interesting to see what a stock 1J block with head work and cams could pull before it let go :-)

How close do you think it was to the limit?
How big a NOS jet we're you pushing in the end?

Sorry about all the questions :-)
Congrats!

yea mate, we pulled the head off, she was stock. i bought the engine in a stock front cut so i wasnt expecting any suprises. i have no doubt the factory engine would not have gone much further and i think it only went that far due to the race fuel and my tuners excellent tuning ability no when else has run 137 mph or got near that in a similar weight car let alone a light car. Matt from magic i think ran 132 and he is a lot lighter than me and his car is a lot lighter than me. if anyone nudges that time it will be him, but we will need the slicks as his car is too light for the radials, i hope he does get back out on the track soon. as for gas, it always had a 0.36 jet in it single fogger.

the 1.5j is in. it has a factory 1j head on it, only changes are cams, i was told they are 272's but i cant find anywhere on them what lift and duration they actually are. they just have hks stamped on them. i believe it as upgraded valve springs aswell. the ports are untouched. it does have a large volume intake manifold and throttle body. its one of those ebay ones from china i think they are made.

questions are fine. i will say i wont give away all my information, more so on the car set up, making power is easy, getting down the track is where its hard. at present there is a little ferret getting around newcastle telling everyone he is going to whip me then has the hide to go into the workshops who have helped me out trying to get information. its very sad. if they did all there own RnR on car setup like i had to and beat me i would give full credit too them, but to try and be a snake like they are is piss weak.

hope i addressed all your questions mate, im still a tad tired from the weekend. 2000 k round triop takes it out of me.

cheers

I think they mark hks cams on the front where it mounts the cam gear, so its hidden unless you pull it out. Could be wrong of course, jusr remember seeing a gtr cam that im sure was hks, with the details in that location.

Here is a vid I took of a 10.2 second run in the heat of the day.

One in the finals was 10.18 on the brakes for close to half a second I reckon!
